Humanism is in a state of crisis, for which there are three principle reasons. The first results from theoretical criticisms from post-structuralism, feminism, postcolonialism and environmental thinking. The second flows from scientific and technological developments (biogenetics, evolutionary theory, robotics and artificial intelligence) and the third from scientific and technological capitalism. We are in a post-human time of transition that invites us to seek alternative conceptions of the human being. I introduce here an approach elaborated by Rosi Braidotti, which belongs to neo-materialist posthumanism. I acquaint the reader with Claire Colebrook’s argument that posthumanism has preserved a bias about the value of life. It is necessary to overcome it and accept the perspective of extinction. I then show the conceptual problems and ideological contradictions of these theories and propose the development of a different alternative: hyperhumanism.

Humanismus se nalézá v krizi, která má tři hlavní důvody. Je způsobena teoretickou kritikou ze strany poststrukturalismu, feminismu, postkolonialismu a environmentálního myšlení. Dále je vyvolána vědeckým a technologickým vývojem (biogenetikou, evoluční teorií, robotikou, umělou inteligencí) a konečně také vědeckým a technologickým kapitalismem. Jsme v posthumánní době přechodu, která nás vybízí k hledání alternativních pojetí lidské bytosti. Článek představuje pojetí vypracované Rosi Braidottiovou, která patří k neomaterialistickému posthumanismu. Čtenáře seznamuje s argumentací Claire Colebrookové, podle níž si posthumanismus zachoval předsudek o hodnotě života. Ten je zapotřebí překonat a přijmout perspektivu vymření. Ukazujeme pak koncepční problémy a myšlenkové rozpory těchto teorií a navrhujeme rozvíjet odlišnou alternativu, jíž je hyperhumanismus.

Rosi Braidotti is one of the most distinctive thinkers of contemporary posthumanism. She approaches this term in an informed manner, at the same time endeavoring to redefine it and make it applicable to contemporary society, primarily through a critique of global capitalism. In the text, I will present this Italian philosopher’s concept of posthumanism, specifically focusing on an analysis of the construction of “posthuman knowledge” and the new methods of knowledge proposed by her.

Rosi Braidottiová je jednou z nejvýraznějších myslitelek současného posthumanismu. K tomuto termínu přistupuje poučeně, zároveň se snaží o jeho redefinici a aplikovatelnost pro současnou společnost, především skrze kritiku globálního kapitalismu. V textu představíme pojetí posthumanismu této italské filosofky, konkrétně se zaměříme na analýzu konstrukce „posthumánního poznání“ a jí navrhovaných nových metod poznání.
