The article critically analyses approaches that Slovak sociologists have been using in their analysis of the antisemitism in Slovakia after 1989. It describes quantitative methods used by Slovak sociologists and suggests a need of a complex approach to the research of the antisemitism. Author argues that modern antisemitism is de-judaized, while the Slovak researchers focus more on a research of the prejudices and the stereotypes toward the Jews. The research of the antisemitism in Slovakia is fully dominated by a Bogarduss scale of a social distance while the different relevant research methods are not used by the Slovak experts. Moreover, in the process of the interpretations of the public opinion surveys experts do not take into account the so-called escaping answers of the respondents and the attempts to run away from the answering sensitive questions. The socio-psychological research, reflecting authoritarian personality, anomy, alienation and the ontological insecurity of the common people as the sources of the antisemitism, is rather rare in Slovakia. Consequently, the quantitative research of the antisemitism in Slovakia can be evaluated as insufficient. De-judaized perspective of the antisemitism and even of Jews themselves in a Sartre's sense is remaining one of the greatest challenges for the sociologists researching antisemitism in Slovakia.

The article pertains to the methodological status of the Environmental Protection and the specificity of the research methods in this science. The Environmental Protection has recently become a recognized scientific discipline in Poland. As opposed to other European countries, it has been qualified as belonging to three fields of science. The current moment is the time of its formation and development as a scientific discipline. Separating it from other scientific disciplines evokes questions regarding its methodological connections with its mother disciplines. The research methods used in the Environmental Protection are similar to the methods applied in the discipline of chemistry, natural sciences and agriculture. The aforementioned methods possess also other specific features, take the example of the fact that they are regulated by the law and benefit from the technologically advanced examination apparatus. The article describes the selected methods in the Environmental Protection and poses the question regarding the methodology applied in this science.

The article presents the method of participatory action research (PAR), its meaning, the use and misuse in the social policy. The thesis is formulated that PAR is a research approach useful in investigating and dealing with contemporary social problems. However, used by powerful institutions, governments and think-tanks it may be also an instrument of accomplishing particular or narrow political goals. In the first part various approaches and types of participatory action research are discussed. The second part of the text presents the different applications of PAR in social policy, especially in the local context. The third part of the article illustrates the threats resulting from expansion of PAR and shows the mechanisms of contributing to 'unsocial' goals by PAR.

A survey of conceptual, theoretical and methodological studies and apprehension of the quality of life. Following a brief historical review, the survey illustrates an integration model of the quality of life, which distinguishes between basal (universal), individual (civilizing) and elite (cultural-spiritual) quality of life; the meaning of life operates there as a systematic (universal) psycho-regulator of 'good' life. Up to now, the Slovak psychologists have not created a specific method of their own, they have adapted several methods from abroad, e.g. WHOQOL-BREF, Bern Questionnaire of Well-Being, Irish SEIQoL and others. Listed in the references are major specialized events (workshops and conferences) on the quality of life in the Slovak Republic in 1994 - 2006 as well as corresponding the grant research projects. The study concludes with the demands for plausible psychological research of the quality of life as the new paradigm for a positive psychology movement.
