The presented work aimed at the determination of the period in which the detection of potato viruses (PVY, PVM and PLRV) in plants is the highest and to what extent of the plants development the results are reliable. It was found that the optimal period of assessment by ELISA of infection is clearly different for each of the viruses. The longest reliable results were obtained in the case of PVY (up to 7 weeks after emergence) and to some extent, PVM (up to 5 weeks, the optimum – 4 weeks) and the shortest for PLRV (optimum is 3–4 weeks after emergence of plants).
