Georg Andreas Helwing (1666–1748) was the author of two important early accounts on the flora of former East Prussia: “Flora qusimodogenita” and “Supplementum florae prussicae”. Along with his son-in-law Matthias Ernst Boretius, he prepared several herbaria viva. Four of these herbaria survived until WWII; however, their whereabouts since WWII have been generally unknown. In this paper, two of these herbaria are described: one preserved in the collections of the National Library of Poland and another in the herbarium of the Faculty of Biology of the University of Warsaw. Both were formerly in the possession of the Königsberg city library. These herbaria document not only Helwing’s studies on the native flora of Prussia but also his experiments with acclimation of exotic species in his garden in Stullichen (Stulichy, Poland). They are also an important source of vernacular Polish and German names of plants.

This paper presents a whole range of actions taken by the Department of Early Printed Books of the National Library of Poland related to data registration in Roman libraries. The data of printed Polonica from the 16-18th centuries were registered in the years 1974-2016 in 14 Roman libraries of different types in total. The success of this project could be ascribed to the agreement between three research centers: The National Library, The Pontifical Institute of Ecclesiastic Studies in Rome and The J.S. Umiastowska Roman Foundation. The article discusses following topics: methodology of data registration, organisation of work, enconutered problems and implemented solutions, specificity of work in the Italian libraries (differences in cataloging, inventories of library collections and access to them) and their impact on the quality and performance of the National Library. In addition, the general outcome of this methodology is presented in the context of its importance for updating Polish national bibliography. The results of the presented efforts are regularly published in the series of Polonica from the 16-18th Centuries in the Roman Libraries.

Artykuł prezentuje doświadczenia Zakładu Starych Druków BN w zakresie rejestracji poloników drukowanych XVI-XVIII w. zgromadzone w latach 1974-2016 w sumie w 14 bibliotekach rzymskich różnych typów. Realizacja tego projektu była możliwa dzięki umowie pomiędzy Biblioteką Narodową a Papieskim Instytutem Studiów Kościelnych w Rzymie i Fundacją Rzymską im. Margrabiny J.Z. Umiastowskiej. W artykule omówiono różne metodyki prowadzenia rejestracji, organizację pracy, napotykane problemy i zastosowane ich rozwiązania, specyfikę pracy w bibliotekach włoskich (lokalne katalogi, inwentarze, zasady opracowania, ewidencji i udostępniania zbiorów) i jej wpływ na całokształt pracy. Ponadto jako rezultat przyjętych metodyk zaprezentowano ogólne wyniki prowadzonych rejestracji oraz ich znaczenie dla uzupełnienia bibliografii narodowej. Efekty tych prac są obecnie systematycznie publikowane w tomach składających się na serię wydawniczą: Polonika XVI-XVIII Wieku w Bibliotekach Rzymskich.

The author discusses the results of 2009 research on electronic resources of Polish libraries. The research was focused on defining the state of electronic resources collected in traditional and digital libraries and evaluating the awareness and attitudes of Polish electronic resources library managers towards the issue of long-term preservation of resources in question. Finally, the author analyzes conclusions reached as a result of conversations with Poznań Supercomputing and Networking Center employees on long-term preservation of electronic library resources.

W artykule przedstawiono wyniki badań przeprowadzonych w 2009 roku, dotyczących zasobów elektronicznych polskich instytucji bibliotecznych. Celem tych badań było ustalenie, w jakiej kondycji są materiały elektroniczne zgromadzone w bibliotekach tradycyjnych i cyfrowych oraz jaki jest poziom świadomości i nastawienie przedstawicieli polskich instytucji tworzących, gromadzących i zarządzających polskimi bibliotecznymi zasobami elektronicznymi odnośnie do kwestii zabezpieczenia ich długoterminowej użyteczności. Omówiono również wnioski z rozmów na temat zapewnienia długoterminowej archiwizacji elektronicznych zasobów bibliotecznych z pracownikami Poznańskiego Centrum Superkomputerowo-Sieciowego.
