The autor focuses on selected features of the language and style of Jesuit priest Fr Alfred Cholewiński (1936–1988). The material for observation has been drawn from texts of frequently heterogeneous genres. The conclusions of the analysis are the following: Cholewiński’s preaching abounds in existential examples (citations), it is not devoid of humour or irony; Cholewiński frequently resorts to similes, maintains colloquialisms in formal discourse, he does not avoid hermetic scientific language in popularizing discourse. Formal and informal registers are interwoven with no clear-cut boundaries between them. In Fr. Cholewiński’s discourse features typical of neocatechumenal language (lexis, phraseology and imagery) are also present. Since part of Cholewiński’s linguistic peculiarities is shared by other members of the Neocatechumenal Way, his language can be categorized as konfesjolekt (the sense of belonging to the community, conveying religious experience in its linguistic terms).
