Professor Ryszard Manteuffel (1903-1991), distinguished Polish agricultural economist has published 30 books and over 1400 scientific dissertations and papers. He has promoted 45 doctors of science, of which 20 became the professors. He is also recognized for his creative contribution in the area of didactic publications. Professor Manteuffel has published 4 original text-books on accounting, work and labour organization, farm management, as well as 12 hand-books and other teaching materials. His scientific publications illustrate the development of Polish farms and changes in economics of agricultural production over the second half of the XXth century. He was strongly opponent to the concept of creating of „gigantic state farms" in Polish agriculture. His philosophy of farms functioning was based on the organic nature of relations between different branches of agricultural production.
