The article deals with the activites of Father Robert Gajda (1890–1952) in Kłodzko land in the years 1917–1924. It is based on heretofore unknown source materials from the priest’s personal file in the record office of the former Grand Deanery of Kłodzko as well as mentions in the local press. Father Gajda started his pastoral activities in the county of Kłodzko in mid 1917, when he became chaplain in Ludwikowice Kłodzkie. There he gained a reputation as a zealous priest loved by his parishioners. In the years 1919–1924 he was chaplain in Stary Wielisław, where he combined his priestly duties with academic studies at the Silesian Conservatory in Wrocław as well as activities as a composer. He created 16 of his first works in Stary Wielisław, the most well-known among them being Missa ”Regina pacis”. Those works were mostly performed in Stary Wielisław, but also in Kłodzko and Lądek-Zdrój. Father Gajda also created an arrangement for choir and orchestra to be performed at the mystery plays of the Lord’s Passion in Gorzanów in 1922. He was also involved in the activities of the Cecilian Society of the County of Kłodzko.

W artykule omówiono zjawiska wyrzutów gazów i skał, które wystąpiły podczas eksploatacji węgla w dawnej kopalni Wacław w Ludwikowicach Kłodzkich od 1915 r. (pierwszy oficjalnie zarejestrowany wyrzut) aż do jej ostatecznego zamknięcia w 1939 r. Wszystkie wyrzuty poddano analizie, w szczególności wyrzut z 9 lipca 1930 r., wykazując ich związek m.in. z lokalną tektoniką złoża. Ma to szczególne znaczenie w związku z planami wznowienia wydobycia węgla kamiennego w rejonie byłej kopalni Wacław.

The documented reserves of geological layer were estimated at about 84 mln tons of coal. However, even the initial research showed that the actual amount could be much bigger. Consequently, in the middle of 2015, the Coal Holding was going to apply for license for coal output. It is estimated, that the construction of the mine will cost about 150 mln dollars. This article introduces the history of coal mining in the old mine “Wacław” located in the area between Ludwikowice Kłodzkie, Jugów and Sokolec. It discusses the hazards of gas and rock outbursts, with the most tragic one of 1930. Historical range covers the period from 1662 to the present. There was a need to summarize the history of mining there because of the high chances of resumption of coal mining in the area of discussed mine. During the research on the not yet understood problem of gas and rock outburst it turned out that it had a decisive influence on mining. Any resumption of mining could be an unprecedented opportunity to start research in this area. In this report the engineeringtechnical and cartographic materials and documents never published before have been collected in the Archives of the Museum of Coal Mining in Nowa Ruda. At the beginning of 2013 an Australian investor became interested in the geological layer of the mine “Wacław”. In November 2013, under the supervision of a Coal Holding, the company began drilling research boreholes to the depth of 1000m. The documented reserves of geological layer were estimated at about 84 million tons of coal. However, even the initial research showed that the actual amount could be much higher. Consequently, in the middle of 2015, the Coal Holding is going to apply for a license for exploitation of the geological layer. It is estimated that the construction of the mine will cost about 150 million dollars. It will provide employment to about 2,000 people. Annual production is expected to be 1.25 million tons of charcoal in the initial stage of the project. It will then be raised to 2.5 million tones.
