Nieskrępowany przepływ informacji to w dzisiejszym świecie fundament rozwoju naukowego. Z akademickiego punktu widzenia globalna sieć powinna umożliwiać zarówno przesłanie wyników badań, dokonanie konsultacji, telekonferencję, bądź zdalną pracę w laboratorium w bardzo krótkim czasie i niezależnie od lokalizacji. Potrzebom tym wychodzi naprzeciw program EduRoam. W niniejszym artykule przedstawiono aspekty społeczne i organizacyjne, które pojawiły się w trakcie wdrażania sieci EduRoam na Politechnice Lubelskiej oraz wykorzystanie technik PR do propagowania idei tej sieci oraz pozyskiwania środków na rozwój jej infrastruktury technicznej. Artykuł może służyć jako pomoc w przezwyciężeniu trudności związanych z organizacją sieci WAN w ramach jednostek dydaktyczno-naukowych.

In today's world the unfettered flow of information is the cornerstone of scientific development. From the academic point of view the global network should allow its users to exchange test results, consult research, teleconference or work in the remote lab in a short time, regardless of their location. The EduRoam project was started to answer those needs. The social and organizational aspects of implementing EduRoam network at Lublin University of Technology are described in this paper. Using PR techniques to promote this network and to raise funds for developing its technical structure are also discussed. This article may be an aid in overcoming the difficulties associated with implementing WAN networks in educational and research units.

The paper presents new functions and roles performed by Lublin University of Technology Library in context of the university parametric marks. A library has always played an important role in the scientific environment of universities. The primary aim of its activity is supporting the academics’ scientific performance. It has been done by providing the documentation of their scholarship. The composites of information on publications from various sources not only register the items but also positively influence the scholarly communications by enhancing discoverability. These databases, additionally equipped with tools necessary to analyse citations, start to play a more and more important role. Our bibliographic database has been enriched recently by new parametric indicators: journal mark indicators, citations, for example, according to the Web of Science. It allows the library to support the system of evaluation of scientific institutions conducted by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education in Poland. The paper presents a description of the important role played by the Scientific and Technical Information Department at the University as the main coordinator concerning documentation and information including parametric evaluation of the university (2013–2016).
