In the 20 century there were two important th processes that undermined traditional Western understanding of the human. Firstly, it was the unprecedented advance in science and technology. Secondly, the rise of antihumanism in philosophy and social sciences. In my text I argue that post-anthropocentrism should be treated as a response to a situation where a new way of thinking about the human, especially in relation to non-humans, is highly needed. In the next sections I refer to the work of Bruno Latour in order to show the theoretical background of post-anthropocentric discourse. Finally, I approach the question of practical aspects of post-anthropocentrism.

Based on an interpretation of selected texts concerning ambient technology (AmI) the article critically discusses the relationship between technology, culture and nature. A posthumanistic approach to the analysis is adopted, allowing for the unveiling of the ruptures and splits related to such issues as subjectivity, culture-nature dichotomy and technological development.

This paper investigates one of the “posthumanist” propositions of redefining notion of community. It argues that in order to expand community as regards nonhuman animals (Haraway) and technology, things (Latour) it is necessary to go beyond dichotomy of means and ends, instrumental and communicative action.

Celem tekstu jest wskazanie przykładowych sposobów zredefiniowania pojęcia wspólnoty z perspektywy filozofii 'posthumanistycznej'. Osią rozważań będzie próba wyjścia poza dychotomię środków i celów,  działań instrumentalnych i komunikacyjnych jako warunek możliwości poszerzenia wspólnoty o aktorów pozaludzkich: zarówno nie-ludzkich zwierząt (Haraway), jak i technologię oraz rzeczy (Latour).

Cultural practices are part of everyday life. This paper analyzes the link between violenceand cultural practice. Via an analytical focus on social practices and interaction theory itargues that cultural patterns of interaction form a set of routines which link micro structuresof daily encounters with macro effects (1). It shows that these habitual patterns areclosely linked to historical ancestors and gender constructions (2). Finally it explains howhabitual patterns and rituals can be linked to the process of historical transformation (3).The paper analyses historical examples of violent behavior in order to offer a freshperspective on certain widespread behaviors. It demonstrates that in order to understandgun violence of the early 20th century, the reconstruction and understanding of historicalantecedents of contemporary interactions is necessary. Through a close reading and comparisonof weaponry practice in the 19th and 20th centuries, it becomes clear that modernrituals incorporated elements of the historical habitus. Thus it becomes evident that ritualforms of interaction have the potential to fuse historical patterns with new elements. Thisis the reason rituals prove essential to modern societies, as they combine elements of continuityand stability with the dynamics of change.
