The paper contains an overview of the technologies used for generation of electricity from low-temperature geothermal energy resources, including an overview of installations in those technologies. The review is focused on the prospective adaptation of the technology under the Polish geothermal energy resources conditions. The most important parameters for the efficient power production by a binary power plant are analyzed. The paper draws attention to parallel – combined (CHP – combined heat and power production) use of geothermal energy to produce electricity and heat. Such an approach to the problem can significantly improve the economic viability of proposed solutions.
