The analysis of the history of opera theaters repertoires indicates, there are opera works that after some time of the presence in the repertoire of theaters for various reasons have been removed. Thus, there is the analogy with the occurrence of censored observations (opera works, which have stood the test of time), and the complete observations (opera works, which ended their "stage life"). Accordingly, the duration of stage life of opera works can be analyzed by the methods used in the survival analysis. The methodes used in survival analysis enable the evaluation of the impact of the some features of opera works such as vocal and instrumental values, the type of opera, musical period in which opera work was created or the language of the libretto on the timelessness of the music piece. The aim of this paper is to estimate the chances of "death stage" of the opera works on the basis of the results of the Cox regression model. The study used data from the electronic archive of the Metropolitan Opera in New York.

W ciągu ostatnich lat jesteśmy świadkami daleko idących zmian w szeroko rozumianej sferze uczestnictwa w kulturze, wynikające na przykład z rozwoju nowoczesnych technologii. Wciąż istnieją, jednak "tradycyjne" instytucje kultury (kina, teatry, muzea, itp.), choć ich rola i znaczenie się zmieniają. Artykuł omawia najnowszą edycję badania uczestnictwa w kulturze, które przeprowadzono w 2010 roku. W artykule przedstawiono wyniki badania oraz uwarunkowania społeczno-demograficzne uczestnictwa w kulturze.

Over the past years we have been witnessing far-reaching changes in the broadly understood sphere of cultural participation, resulting for example from the modern technology development. There still exist, however, "traditional" cultural institutions on the cultural horizon (cinemas, theatres, museums, etc.), although their role and significance are changing. The article discusses the most recent edition of the survey of cultural participation, carried out in 2010. The first part presents general results of the survey, while the second one focuses on correlates of cultural participation. The most interesting relations between participation and a number of social and demographic variables are highlighted. (original abstrakt)

W opracowaniu podjęto próbę przybliżenia stopnia korzystania z usług kulturalnych w małych miastach Polski w latach 2003-2011 oferowanych przez sektor kultury w zakresie działalności muzeów, kin, bibliotek i domów kultury. Uzyskane wyniki pozwoliły na ustalenie ich dostępności oraz wykorzystania przez mieszkańców małych miast na tle pozostałych. (fragment tekstu)

This paper describes the use of cultural services in small Polish towns against other towns and cities taking into account the cultural sector represented by museums, cultural centers, cinemas and libraries. The study was based on CSO data urban centers with less than 20 thousand inhabitants. It was found that some changes in the availability and use of facilities providing cultural services in small towns are consistent to those seen in larger cities. (original abstract)

Cultural activity undertaken by public cultural institutions is very complex. This causes several problems in assessing effectiveness of such organizations. The aim of this paper is to indicate a theoretical framework of effectiveness, adjusted to the specificity of this sector. The article presents a brief review of basic theoretical frameworks of effectiveness, including their critic. The concept indicated as most appropriate for cultural institutions is effectiveness based on agathos concept. In order to include the specificity of culture sector it was supplemented by defining crucial dimensions of mission in cultural institutions. One of the most important conclusions is, that indicated theoretical framework of effectiveness may be used also for public and nonprofit organizations.
