The aim of this work was to present the possibility of the application of the wood fireplace ashes - the waste from the fire-places, for the fertilization of the homestead gardens, used as the soil amendment and the fertilizer raw material. The paper presents the chemical composition and the properties of the ashes obtained during the combustion of several types of trees. The high content of calcium carbonate and oxide, magnesium oxide and potassium sulfate and very small particles of these components are useful in the deacidification of the soils and after the supplementation in fertilizer ingredients, can be useful as the fertilizers. The properties and the chemical analyses of this waste were determined using the ICP-OES, ICP-MS, X-Ray scanning microscopy and DTA and the TG thermal analyses.
