Content available remote Deuterium Depletion and Magnesium Enhancement in the Local Disk

The local disk deuterium is known to be depleted in comparison to the local bubble. We used Hubble Space Telescope (HST) spectra to obtain column densities of Si, Mg and Fe. We compared normalized column densities of these elements in the directions with high and low deuterium abundances. We show, that the lines of sight that are depleted in deuterium, are enhanced in magnesium. This observation implicates that astration is responsible for both deuterium depletion and magnesium enhancement.

Relations between abundances of the interstellar C2 molecule and other diatomic species as CH and H2 are presented based on 33 available sight-lines. Spacial correlations between column densities of diatomic molecules suggest that the C2 molecule is closely related to interstellar CH with correlation coefficient equal to 0.87±0.05. The column density ratio in the case of C2 and CH molecules in the ISM is equal to 1.13±0.12.

We present a list of interstellar absorption lines in the direction of HD 37061 in the M43 nebula. Some of the absorption lines arise from atomic excited levels that are uncommon in interstellar clouds. The excited levels of FeII are populated by fluorescence. We found a large number of H2 molecular absorption lines arising from vibrationally excited levels. The ortho/para H2 ratio is equal to 2.7. The H2 rotational temperature of vibrational levels 1-5 exceeds 2000 K.
