The situation of women in the labor market is different from situation of men in all European countries, including Poland. The cohort analysis makes possible empirical verification of the different levels of women’s and men’s activity rates in different generations, which is the purpose of the paper. As a result of the analysis it was pointed that women’s activity rates are lower than men’s. However, disparities in younger generations are smaller. The smallest gender gaps exist in the countries for which the social - democratic model of social policy is characteristic, while the biggest disparities occur in the countries of the South European model of social policy. It is observed the relatively low level of gender inequalities in Poland.
