The aim of this paper is to show the influence of the blessed Dorothy and her spirituality at the religious life of the parish and the shape and meaning of the interior of the Saint Peter and Paul church in Great Montau. The most important elements in the Dorothy’s spirituality were the passion piety and Eucharistic cult. The works of art from the Middle Ages, preserved in the church, confirm their important role also in the religious live of the parish community (Sacrament House, Pieta, Christ on the Cold Stone). In the modern times, when the Dorothy’s cult was renewed in the Kulm Diocese, the interior of the church was enlareged with three elements connected with Dorothy – the Latin inscrioption about her life, the procession paiting depicting her mystical communion, as well as her image within the southern side altar. Also in the 19th and in the beginning of the 20th Century the cult of the Recluse was living in the parish. After 1945 it was less cultivate. The cult was renewed in the 70’s of the 20th Century. Today is the Dorothy’s cult again living, and an important part of it are the works of art (procession painting, baptismal font). The temple in Montau is an extraordinaryexample among others Prussian churches, because here some cult continuity was preserved and thanks the works of art is it possible, to follow its history.

The author believes that during the canonization process of Dorothea of Montau in Medieval times the papal committee knowingly and intentionally failed to deeply explore the subject of one of the visions of the recluse of Kwidzyn, in which the Grand Master Konrad von Wallenrode resides in hell, surrounded by five princes-demons. It was supposed to signify Wallenrode’s corrupted spiritual life as a man and as a head of the Teutonic fraternity. There are no files in the records of the case which would provide any details for such behaviour of priests-commissars. However, the scarce mentions found in the testimony of Master Johannes of Kwidzyn, according to the author, only prompt one to solve this riddle, so important for the process and the Order of Brothers of the German House of Saint Mary.

Автор считает, что в ходе средневекового канонизационного процесса Доротеи из Монтау папская комиссия сознательно и намеренно не углублялась в тему одного из видений квидзыньской затворницы, в котором великий магистр Конрад вон Валленроде пребывал в аду в окружении пяти князей-демонов, что должно было свидетельствовать о его плохой духовной жизни как человека и начальника тевтонской корпорации. В актах процесса не нашлись записи, которые бы подробно выясняли поводы такого поведения священников-комиссаров, а скупые намёки, находящиеся в показаниях Магистра Яна из Квидзына, только провоцируют, как считает автор, к выяснению этой важной для самого процесса и Ордена дома святой Марии Тевтонской – загадки.

Master Johannes of Marienwerder (Kwidzyn), meticulous, day after day, noted, interpreted and elaborated the words of Christ which addressed to Dorothea. Three books about her life was the results of Jan’s efforts. While reading, at the forefront, we could see wish to leave evidence of the authenticity of the experience of Bl. Dorothea and to transfer the chronology of important events of her life for child’s intenal growth. Another important task which has taken in “Vitae” and “Septililium” Johannes of Marienwerder, was to organize and characterize the theological dimension of mystical experiences that were attended by the blessed patron of Prussia and Pomezania. The third dimension, which can not be disregarded because it somehow lead to all previously mentioned, is the desire of education nad openness to the grace of contemplative life the nexr generation. Their ultimate goal is the generation of the sanctity of the masses of people, men and women who are nurturing the love of God and neighbors, fulfilling the duties of their state, following the way of perfection ot the Christian’s life. As Dorothea of Montau tried to do so, for their whole live.
