Dzisiejszy teatr hiszpański wykazuje wyraźne zaangażowanie w życie społeczeństwa, w którym się rodzi, i czyni to poprzez krytyczne odzwierciedlenie jego obrazu w sposób, który pomaga ustanowić nowe paradygmaty dotyczące kontrowersyjnych, najbardziej niepokojących kwestii. Jedną z nich jest przemoc, a zwłaszcza różne przejawy przemocy ze względu na płeć. Sztuki tego rodzaju zaświadczały o przemocy na tle płciowym od zawsze, na przykład już w teatrze barokowym XVII wieku. Społeczne oddziaływanie tego tematu na sztuki barokowe etapy mają w naszym społeczeństwie wielkie znaczenie, ponieważ przez stulecia odzwierciedlało nie tylko koncepcję całkowitego poddania się kobiety patriarchalnej władzy mężczyzny, ale także sprzyjało jego zakorzenieniu. Od połowy XX wieku do dzisiaj pojawiła się interesująca lista tytułów, które są próbą zwrócenia uwagi hiszpańskich dramaturgów na problem przemocy seksualnej i wszystkiego, co ją otacza: ustawodawstwa i raportów (sądowych, kryminalnych medycznych), przejawów specjalistycznej opieki socjologicznej, zdrowotnej i psychologicznej, działań pedagogicznych na rzecz nieletnich itp.

Current Spanish Theater clearly shows its ethical commitment to the society in which it is born, and it does so by critically reflecting contemporary society in a way that helps to set new paradigms regarding the controversial issues, and that we are most concerned about. In this line of testimonial viewing and complaint, violence is one of the recurring arguments, and the various manifestations of gender-based violence have a remarkable place. The stages bear witness to gender violence since always, as examples of the treatment of the theme of honor in the baroque theater of the seventeenth century. The social impact that this topic of honor risen to the baroque stages still have in our society is of great importance, because for centuries has not only reflected the conception of absolute submission of women to the patriarchal figure and the prevalence of the man over her, but has also helped it to take root. Faced with this vision, other texts have served to begin to raise awareness of the problem. From the mid-twentieth century until today, an interesting list of titles serves as a sample of the attention given by our playwrights to gender abuse and everything that surrounds them: legislation, forensic medical forensic reports, care of socio-health care professionals And psychological, pedagogical actions with minors, etc.

El teatro español actual manifiesta claramente su compromiso ético con la sociedad en la que nace, y lo hace reflejando críticamente la sociedad contemporánea de manera que colabora en la fijación de nuevos paradigmas en lo concerniente a los temas polémicos y que más nos preocupan. En su faceta de visualización testimonial y denuncia, la violencia es uno de los ejes argumentales recurrentes, y las diversas manifestaciones de la de género tienen un lugar reseñable. Los escenarios testimonian violencia de género desde siempre, como los ejemplos del tratamiento del tema del honor y la honra en el teatro barroco del siglo XVII. La repercusión social que ese tópico de la honra subido a los escenarios barrocos sigue teniendo en nuestra sociedad es de gran importancia, pues durante siglos no solo ha reflejado la concepción de sumisión absoluta de la mujer a la figura patriarcal y la prevalencia del hombre sobre ella, sino que también ha ayudado a arraigarla. Frente a esa visión, otros textos han servido para comenzar a concienciar del problema. Desde mitad del siglo XX hasta hoy, una interesante relación de títulos sirve como muestra de la atención prestada por nuestros dramaturgos al maltrato de género y todo lo que le rodea: legislación, informes periciales médico forenses, atención de profesionales de la asistencia socio-sanitaria y psicológica, actuaciones pedagógicas con menores, etc.
