The article analyses certain statements about Mary which appear in the Catechism of Trent and the Catechism of the Catholic Church published after the Second Vatican Council. Firstly, the historical situation which influenced the rise of these documents is sketched. An analysis of Marian motifs report two chapters which reveal basic views on the person of Mary of Nazareth and on the importance that she had in the Catholic Church in the 16th as well as in the 20th century. In the first Catechism, Mary is presented as the Virgin and mother of God, and the aspect of her spiritual motherhood is mentioned. The Catechism of the Catholic Church adds the mysteries of the Immaculate Conception and the Assumption. Through this analysis the author argues that Mary is a human being as God wanted humans to be from the beginning.

Evangelischer Erwachsener Katechismus (“The Protestant Catechism for Adults”) considers marriage in the six points: (1) civil marriage and church marriage, (2) what marriage is?, (3) what does refer to the marriage?, (4) what kind of marriage does exist?, (5) a divorce, (6) mixted marriages. The “Catechism” acknowledges in the very beginning, that the institution of marriage refers to all nations and religions and from the law’s perspective has been driven by different rules and orders. According to the Bible, marriage has been rooted in the act and the order of creation. Human beings were created as man and woman. A reciprocal relationship written in the very nature of man and woman let to recognise that married state and its binding character had been created by God himself.

Evangelischer Erwachsener Katechismus lehrt von der Ehe in sechs Punkten: (1) Eheschließung und Trauung, (2) Was ist die Ehe?, (3) Was gehört zur Ehe?, (4) Welche Formen der Ehe gibt es?, (5) Ehescheidung, (6) Konfessionsverschiedene Ehen. Der Katechismus geht von der Beobachtung aus, daß die Ehe in allen Völkern und Religionen, wenn auch mit verschiedener Rechtsordnung, verbreitet ist. Die Ehe sei bereits schon in der Schöpfungsordnung begründet. Gott habe den Menschen als Mann und Frau geschaffen. Er selbst habe die Ehe gestiftet und ihr damit einen verbindliehen Charakter gegeben. Die Schöpfungswirklichkeit Ehe ist Nachvollzug und Abbild des Verhältnisses, das Christus zur Kirche hat. Wo sich die Eheleute glaubend darauf einlassen und ihnen in Form einer kirchlichen Trauung die göttliche Verheißung zugesprochen wird, wird die innere Wirklichkeit der Ehe als eine von Gott gestiftete, exklusive und auf Dauer angelegte Lebensgemeinschaft verdeutlicht.

Evangelischer Erwachsener Katechismus (“Ewangelicki katechizm dla dorosłych”) w sześciu punktach uczy o małżeństwie: (1) zawarcie małżeństwa i ślub, (2) czym jest małżeństwo?, (3) co należy do małżeństwa?, (4) jakie istnieją formy małżeństwa?, (5) rozwód, (6) małżeństwa różne wyznaniowo. „Katechizm” wychodzi z obserwacji, że małżeństwo występuje we wszystkich narodach i religiach, jak i w różnych porządkach prawnych. Małżeństwo było zasadzone już w porządku stworzenia. Bóg stworzył człowieka jako mężczyznę i kobietę. Sam ustanowił małżeństwo, nadając mu tym samym wiążący charakter. Rzeczywistość małżeństwa jest obrazem relacji, jaką Chrystus ma do Kościoła. Gdy małżonkowie z wiarą opierają się na tej prawdzie i dana im jest w formie ślubu kościelnego Boża obietnica, realizuje się małżeństwo jako wspólnota życia ustanowiona przez Boga, wyłączna i trwała.
