The aim of this work was to analyze the cooperation eciency of the distributed objects based on the CORBA standard. The obtained results show the possibilities of application to the object-relational databases or ob- ject oriented computation of data received via the network from the object managed data base. The distributed objects for the client-server model were implemented in Java and C++ languages. All possible congurations of the implementation for the client and the server were analyzed. Best results were received for the client and the server implementation in C++ language. The worst results were received for the client and the server implementation in Java.

W artykule przeanalizowano i porównano wydajność komunikacji rozproszonych obiektów, realizujących funkcjonalności klienta i serwera na podstawie standardów CORBA i COM/DCOM, w celu pokazania możliwości ich zastosowania do realizacji systemów typu klient-serwer. Przedstawiono obiektowo zorientowany model aplikacji testowej. Przeanalizowano czasy transmisji dla danych typów podstawowych, dla tablic jednowymiarowych oraz struktur danych.

In this work there was analyzed and compared the communication efficiency of the distributed objects which were realized the client and the server functionalities based on the CORBA and the COM/DCOM standards in order to show the possibilities of its application to the client-server systems implementation. The object-oriented model was presented for the testing application. It was analysed transmission times for the basic data types, the tables and the structures.

It also delineates an architecture approach for implementing service networks and describes Lucent Technologies experiences with the Telecommunication Information Networking Architecture (TINA), which employs this approach.

Opisano nowe podejście w projektowaniu i implementacji rozproszonych układów sterowania na poziomie gniazda wytwórczego. Rozpatrzono rozwój układów sterowania NC i CNC, rozproszonych systemów komputerowego sterowania obrabiarek DNC oraz możliwości integracji tych systemów w sieci wewnątrz-zakładowch intranet. Wskazano także na zalety wynikające z zastosowania otwartych rozwiązań w budowie i użytkowaniu takich układów. Przedstawiono budowę i działanie wykonanego systemu DNC, w którym zastosowano zamknięte i otwarte układy CNC oraz otwarte technologie informatyczne CORBA, Jara, HTML stosowane w sieciach intranet.

The new approach design and implementation of Distributed Numerical Control! DNC systems is presented. In the area of DNC systems we can observe the evolution to higher functionality and bigger openness. More controllers can be integrated in intranet network. We can find on the marketplace uprising number of open NC controllers designed as PC extension cards. In the DNC system described in the article such solutions and open, common "internet" technologies (Java. Cobra, HTML) were used to implement highly open, flexible and reasonable cheap DNC system.

Opracowanie zawiera przegląd zagadnień związanych z tematyką rozproszonych obiektowych baz danych. Omówione są podstawowe cele, założenia, pojęcia i metody wiążące się z tą dziedziną. Przedstawiono typowe architektury systemów rozproszonych baz danych (architektury: klient-serwer i klient-broker-serwer), a także problemy związane z rozproszeniem zasobów (m.in. replikacje, migracje obiektów, przetwarzanie transakcji, przetwarzanie zapytań, mediatory, osłony, perspektywy). Jakkolwiek główny nacisk został położony na pojęcia i metody związane z obiektowymi bazami danych, opracowanie zawiera również krótkie omówienie technologii komponentowych, takich jak CORBA.

The report contains an overview of distributed object-oriented database systems. The basic goals, assumptions, concepts and methods related to this subject are outlined. Typical architectures of distributed databases (client-server and client-broker-server architectutes) are discussed. Problems connected with resources distribution (among others replications, object migration, transaction processing, query optimization, mediators, wrappers, views) are presented. Although the main emphasis was put on notions and methods related to object-oriented databases systems the report contains also a short description of component technologies, such as CORBA.
