The paper deals with the basic results of sociologic research of socio-psychological after-effects of Chornobyl catastrophe with participation of Ukrainian researchers of the last quarter of the century. There is a retrospective analysis of such aspects of this catastrophe as peculiarities of the effect of communication system on socio-psychological state of victims; motivation of voluntary liquidators in performing the most dangerous tasks; adaptation processes in vital activity of people-victims of the catastrophe; evaluation of administrative decisions and social policy concerning the catastrophe victims, as well as transnational consequences of Chornobyl for international humanitarian aid. It is stressed that sociological study of this catastrophe is of practical importance for performing the rational state policy as to the national nuclear power industry which should necessarily allow for the public thought.
