The article presents the works of the Commission of European Family Law (CEFL) in the field of rights of partners in de facto unions. It explains briefly CEFL’s main objective, which is the creation of European Family Law Principles and the methodology of their elaboration. The fourth set of CEFL Principles is devoted to property, maintenance and succession rights of partners in de facto unions. These principles are explained and compared with Polish regulations. The article is supplemented with the publication of the CEFL principles regarding property, maintenance and succession rights of partners in de facto unions in (English, German, French) and their translation into Polish
