The article analyzes the role played by liberation theology in shaping the emerging paradigm of “another world possible”. Focusing on the case of Brazil, it presents the way in which the utopian postulates of building a new society have transcended religious frameworks, actively configuring the axiological, methodological and organizational foundations of social and political movements in many countries of the Global South. The work concludes that, far from being an anachronism, at the beginning of the 21st century, liberation theology, revisited from the perspective of postcoloniality and transmodernity, is experiencing a true renaissance, entering the mainstream of social and political thought.

El artículo analiza el papel desempeñado por la teología de la liberación en la configuración del emergente paradigma del „otro mundo posible”. Centrándose en el caso de Brasil, presenta la forma en que los postulados utópicos de construir una nueva sociedad han trascendido los marcos religiosos, configurando activamente los fundamentos axiológicos, metodológicos y organizativos de los movimientos sociales y políticos en muchos países del Sur Global. El trabajo concluye que, lejos de ser un anacronismo, a principios del siglo XXI, la teología de la liberación, revisitada desde la perspectiva de la poscolonialidad y la transmodernidad, está experimentando un verdadero renacimiento, entrando en la corriente principal del pensamiento social y político.

This paper discusses the possibilities and difficulties in implementing green economy policies in Brazil. It starts with a discussion about the current trend of specialization in “brown” activities, and argues that a transition towards an alternative, more sustainable development pattern requires a new competitive paradigm, with changing attitudes for both the public and private sectors. This requires new approaches for economic policy making at all levels, including macroeconomic (fiscal and monetary), regulatory and financing issues. New metrics are also necessary to evaluate how “green” the economy is. This means that the transition towards a green economy will not take place without structural reforms, changing the role of the Brazilian state and the regulatory framework for this to happen

El artículo presenta las posibilidades y dificultades vinculadas con la implementación de políticas de “economía verde” en Brasil. Al comienzo se analiza el problema de la tendencia actual en las actividades de la “economía marrón”, para demostrar que la transición hacia el desarrollo más sostenible exige un nuevo paradigma competitivo, con el cambio de actitudes, tanto para el sector público como privado. Esto requiere nuevos enfoques para la formulación de políticas económicas en todos los niveles, incluidas las políticas macroeconómicas (monetaria y fiscal), de regulación y financiación. Es necesario también establecer nuevos indicadores para evaluar si de hecho la economía se ha vuelto “verde”. Apesar da falta de consenso internacional sobre o termo alimentos funcionais, eles representam um dos setores do ramo alimentar com maior crescimento no mercado global e, ao mesmo tempo, uma das mais controversas áreas situadas nas fronteiras entre alimentos e medicamentos. Nesse artigo discutimos a definição do termo alimentos funcionais e o impacto do discurso institucional de promoção da saúde (e vida saudável) sobre o mercado e a percepção pública desses produtos. Questionários, grupos focais e entrevistas em profundidade foram aplicadas em grupos de idosos na cidade de Florianopolis, Brasil. Ao analisarmos o entendimento sobre os alimentos funcionais, especialmente aqueles com o selo da Socie¬dade Brasileira de Cardiologia, encontramos uma percepção mais ampla sobre: o pa¬pel dos alimentos no processo saúde-doença; quem orienta as mudanças dietéticas, as dificuldades em adotar essas mudanças; as estratégias usadas para combinar escolha individual e recomendações médicas; e o entendimento público das controvérsias e incertezas relacionadas ao consumo de alimentos.

In spite of the lack of international agreement concerning the term functional food, it represents one of the food sectors with more significant growth in global markets and at the same time one of the most controversial area situated between the food and drug boundaries. In this paper we discuss the meaning of functional foods and the impact of health promotion discourse (and healthy life) on the market and on the public perception of these products. Questionnaires, focus groups and in-depth individual interviews were applied to groups of elderly people in Florianópolis, Brazil. Trying to analyze their understanding of functional food, especially with the Brazilian Association of Cardiology seal, we found a broa¬der perception of the role of food in the health-illness process; who guides the dietary changes, the difficulties in carrying out these changes; the strategies used to combine individual choice and experts/medical recommendations; and the public understanding of the scientific controversies and uncertainties related to food.

Artykuł przedstawia zespół wodospadów na rzece Iguazu znajdujących się 23 km od jej ujścia do Parany, na granicy Brazylii i Argentyny, w Parku Narodowym Iguazu wpisanym na Listę Światowego Dziedzictwa Kulturowego i Przyrodniczego UNESCO. Wodospady osiągają wysokość 72 m, przy szerokości 2,7 km. Są znanym obiektem turystycznym. Odkryte zostały w 1542 roku przez A. Nunez Cabeza de Vaca.

The article concerns the complex of waterfalls of the National Park of the Iguaz River situated 23 km from the confluence with Parana River, at the border between Brasil and Argentina. The waterfalls that were discovered in 1542 by A. Nunez Cabeza de Vaca are up to 72 m high, and up to 2.7 km wide. This national park is inscribed on the World Heritage List of the UNESCO in 1986, and is a well known tourist site.

As relações entre a religião e a política não são e nunca foram no contexto brasileiro uma situação nova ou surpreendente. Mas, o que se pretende mostrar no artigo, essas relações estão se tornando cada vez mais fortes desde o apa¬re¬cimento na esfera pública das igrejas neopentecostais engajadas diretamente na política interna do país. Baseando-se na análise dos acontecimentos da campanha eleitoral do ano de 2010, a autora mostra como a religião no Brasil tornou-se uma “questão quente” nas disputas dos presidenciáveis pelo poder.

The relations between religion and politics are neither new nor surprising in the Brazilian context. However, what the author shows in the article, they have been becoming stronger and more and more visible since the time when new Pentecostal churches, involved directly in the domestic politics, appeared in the public sphere of Brazil. Basing on the analysis of the presidential campaign in 2010, the author shows how religion in Brazil became a “hot issue” in the candidates’ dispute for power.

In the article, there are presented some reflections, based on the results of a field research in the region of Florianópolis, SC, on the Festa do Divino Espírito Santo regarded as one of the most important ingredients of the Azorean cultural heritage in Brazil and, especially, in the State of Santa Catarina. Commenting on its characteristics, specificities and inevitable transfigurations over time, it is concluded that, although there are several local modifications, the Festas do Divino Espírito Santo continue preserving their cultural Azorean core, their main emblems and their important social aggregation and cohesion functions in the communities that promote and organize them in the region of Florianópolis, intensifying (historically with certain tensions with the institutional Church, nowadays - in symbiosis of their reinvention of the Festa for the sake of the Church preventing the growing Evangelical Pentecostal influence), the Holy Spirit related experiences in popular Brazilian Catholicism.

No artigo apresentam-se reflexões, baseadas nos resultados da pesquisa do campo na região de Florianópolis, SC, sobre a Festa do Divino Espírito Santo vista como um dos componentes mais importantes da herança cultural açoriana no Brasil e, especialmente, no Estado de Santa Catarina. Comentando sobre as suas características, especificidades e transfigurações inevitáveis com o correr do tempo, conclui-se que, embora apresentem hoje várias modificações locais, as Festas do Divino Espírito Santo continuam preservando o seu cerne cultural açoriano, a sua emblemática e a sua função agregadora nas comunidades que as promovem e organizam na região de Florianópolis, intensificando (historicamente numa certa tensão com a Igreja institucional, atualmente - numa símbiose na reinvenção da Festa para a Igreja se contrapor às crescentes influências evangélicas pentecostais) a experiência do Divino Espírito Santo no catolicismo popular brasileiro.

In 2022, Brazil commemorated two crucial moments in its historical and cultural development. Two hundred years have passed since independence from Portugal and one hundred years since the socalled Modern Art Week (Semana de Arte Moderna) in São Paulo. In addition to celebrations, the year 2022 was also a year of new perspectives on both anniversaries, especially through the lens of the First Nations of Brazil. One of the significant efforts was the article “Centenary of Art Week Mobilizes Indigenous Artists” (Centenário da Semana da Arte mobiliza artistas indígenas) and the “Manifesto of Contemporary Native Brasilian Literature” (Manifesto da Literatura Indígena Contemporânea) contained in it. The text by the Brazilian writer Trudruá Dorrico was intentionally published a week before the anniversary, on February 9, 2022, in the online magazine Ecoa. The analysis of several slogans of the manifesto will focus on the issue of tribal ancestors and “Macunaíma’s grandchildren”.

As migrações do povo nordestino formam no Brasil novos territórios culturais e reinventam seu patrimônio, levando alegorias e símbolos, ao congregarem diversos sentidos dados ao longo do tempo por inúmeras questões de “(re)invenção”. Os novos territórios culturais formados a partir da inserção dos sujeitos sociais em cidades metropolitanas como São Paulo e Rio de Janeiro vão escrevendo suas marcas e trajetórias, seja nos bairros, seja nos espaços por eles adaptados às suas representações e expressões culturais. Nesses processos migratórios percebem-se sentidos, signi-ficados e demais aspectos produzidos por uma “imagem” do nordestino alegoricamente represen-tado em conceitos e preconceitos ao longo das gerações ligadas a essas migrações. Assim, po-dem-se compreender, a partir dos mecanismos dessa criação e representação, as diversificadas identificações que contribuem para o entendimento do que é o território cultural e das identida-des especialmente permeado pela ideia de regionalização, criticada pela condensação já posta na história do Nordeste e pelo que ele representa. Como metodologia, buscam-se nos discursos pro-duzidos pelos sujeitos históricos, por meio da história oral, as diversas experiências que possam delimitar e definir as reinvenções e ressignificações da literatura de cordel relacionadas a seu pleito enquanto patrimônio imaterial nacional. Dos territórios e suas imagens nas cidades tenta-se apreender a sua legitimidade e a manutenção tanto referente ao imaginário popular como aos recantos nas cidades de São Paulo e Rio de Janeiro protagonistas desses sentidos do patrimônio migrante do cordel.

The migrations of Northeastern people form new cultural territories in Brazil and reinvent their heritage, using allegories and symbols, and combining their various meanings given over time by innumerable “(re)invention” questions. The new cultural territories formed from the insertion of social subjects in metropolitan cities such as São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro are making their marks and trajectories, whether in the neighborhoods or in the territories they adapt to their rep-resentations and cultural expressions. In these migratory processes, we perceive meanings and other aspects produced by an "image" of the Northeastern, allegorically represented in concepts and preconceptions throughout the generations of these migrants. Thus, it is possible to under-stand, from the mechanisms of this creation and representation, the diversified identifications that corroborate the understanding of what is the cultural territory and identities, especially per-meated by the idea of regionalization, criticized by the condensation already posed in the history of the Northeast and what it represents. As a methodology, the paper utilizes discourses produced by historical subjects, through Oral History, the various experiences that can delimit and define the reinventions and re-significances of cordel literature together with their suit as a national in-tangible heritage. From the territories and their images in the cities, the paper tries to apprehend their legitimacy and maintenance, both with reference to popular imagination, and in the nooks and crannies of the cities of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, protagonists of these meanings of the migrant cordel heritage.

A imagem do Brasil como um país de braços abertos a todos migrantes contrasta, na prática, com as diversas ocasiões de preconceitos e atos xenófobos sofridos pelos que escolheram o país como seu destino. Diante do crescimento desses atos , o governo brasileiro lançou campanhas relacio-nadas à questão da migração, dentre elas a campanha #Eutambemsouimigrante, que teve como proposta a reconstituição da origem migratória de sujeitos, a partir de diferentes grupos de mi-grantes que chegaram ao país ao longo da história. O objetivo do artigo é refletir sobre o contex-to dos discursos relacionados à formação dessa campanha, os textos que foram produzidos em sua divulgação, assim como algumas das reações que a retiraram de veiculação. Para essa análi-se, desenvolvemos um debate em torno dos movimentos migratórios e o direito à mobilidade, apresentando o cenário mundial em números gerais, o histórico e o contexto contemporâneo des-ses fenômenos no Brasil. Os textos das principais peças da campanha #Eutambemsouimigrante são analisados pela análise crítica do discurso (Fairclough, 2001). Os resultados indicam que a produção da campanha mantém determinados estereótipos positivos e negativos sobre os migran-tes, nacionalmente e internacionalmente reproduzidos, não buscando dar visibilidade aos ele-mentos críticos da questão migratória no Brasil.

The image of Brazil as a country with open arms for all migrants, in practice, contrasts with va-rious occasions of prejudice and xenophobic acts, suffered by those who choose the country as their destination. Faced with an increase in these acts in the country, the Brazilian government has developed communication campaigns to address the issue of migration, amongst them the campaign #Eutambemsouimigrante, which was aimed at showcasing the migratory origin of in-dividuals, from different groups of migrants who arrived in the country throughout history. The objective of the article is to reflect on the context of discourses related to the campaign's crea-tion, the texts that were produced as part of the campaign, as well as some of the reactions that led to the withdrawal of its communication. For this analysis, we develop a discussion about mi-gratory movements and the right to mobility, presenting a global dataset, and the historical and contemporary contexts of these phenomena in Brazil. The main texts of the #Eutambemsouimi-grante campaign are analyzed through the lens of discourse critical analysis (Fairclough, 2001). The results indicate that the production of the campaign maintains certain positive and negative stereotypes concerning migrants, nationally and internationally reproduced, not seeking to give visibility to the critical elements of the migratory issue in Brazil.

O Brasil está inserido em uma dinâmica migratória enquanto origem, passagem e destino de mo-vimentos migratórios. Nesse contexto, o aumento dos números de entrada em comparação com a segunda metade do século XX, a diversidade de origem desses migrantes, o fechamento de fron-teiras de antigos hostlands e a facilidade de entrar no país, aliado com a notoriedade que adqui-riu no Sistema Internacional nos últimos anos, fez com que o país se deparasse com uma nova realidade. O governo Rousseff deparou-se com um cenário no qual surgem os primeiros reflexos da entrada de haitianos, além de outros grupos, como os sírios e venezuelanos, além de localida-des asiáticas e africanas, as quais também tiveram um aumento na entrada de seus nacionais no Brasil. Essa situação teve continuidade durante a gestão de Temer e evidenciou a inadequação da política migratória brasileira, impondo aos governos a tomada de medidas no sentido de pro-curar estabelecer um viés de atuação pautado nos direitos humanos e nos ditames constitucio-nais. A metodologia utilizada recorre à literatura acadêmica pré-existente junto à coleta e análise de documentos oficiais, além de reportagens de veículos midiáticos que versem sobre o tema nos âmbitos nacional e internacional.

Brazil is inserted in a migratory dynamic of origin, passage and destination of migratory movements. In this context, the increase of entry numbers compared to the second half of the twentieth century, the diversity of origin of these migrants, the closing of borders of former host countries and the ease of entering the country, combined with the notoriety acquired on the in-ternational stage in recent years, has forced the country to face a new reality. The Rousseff gov-ernment faced emerging reactions to the entry of Haitians, as well as other groups that had en-tered Brazil in larger numbers, such as the Syrians and Venezuelans, as well as Asians and Afri-cans. This situation continued during Temer’s administration and it evidenced the inadequacy of Brazilian migration policy; it forced governments to take measures to try to establish a plan of action based on human rights and constitutional dictates. The methodological approach was to consult pre-existing academic literature, as well as collect and analyze official documents and media reports on the subject, both national and international.

Other subject is presentation of some unknown or less known facts from Maria biography: - her work in Italy in 1918 in searching the uranium ore and determining of radon content in mineral waters, - her trip to Brasil, - her ancestry (grandparents, uncle Zdzisław).
