Product Data Management (PDM) gets rapid development in the field of modern manufacture, CORBA is a media-component technology norm defined by OMG, and the OMG goals are to realize interoperability of distributed object with the definition of a object-oriented software component architecture. It introduces the function of PDM and the conception of CORBA at first, and then brings forwards the method of system integration based on CORBA under PDM environment comparing with the conventional method.

The overall product information model can supply a globally uniform data model to CAX system integration. It is the important content to decide the implementing solution in carrying out the PDM. This paper discusses the contents of the overall product information model and its effects on system integration. Furthermore the basic idea and method for building the model is studied.
