The paper deals with the damage accumulation hypothesis defined for block type loading cases. Definitions and theory for damage accumulation have been presented briefly. The paper distinguishes different block programs and models that are more suitable for certain cases of loading sequences.
The paper presents a new model to calculate the degree of fatigue damage. It is based on the memory of the material. The model is verified on the basis of the block loads (High-Low, Low-High).
The paper presents a narrow analysis of aluminium and its alloys in terms of fatigue life. A overview of some factors influencing the fatigue life has been presented. The paper focuses on factors like the atmosphere, temperature, heat threatening, notch effect. A synthetic data analysis and final conclusions have been presented.
