The article focuses on two main issues. In the first part the apparition of the Blessed Virgin Mary at La Salette is briefly recounted. This is a necessary ground to foster in the second part of the article the main investigation on the relevance of the La Salette apparition for the contemporary world. The methodological procedure applied in the paper aims to demonstrate how the vital theological motives in the narrative circumstances of the La Salette event and in the content of Our Lady’s message are rooted in God’s revelation bequeathed in the Old and New Testament.

The article aims at showing the beginnings, development, present state and the future perspectives of doctoral studies at the Theological Faculty of the Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University (CSWU) in Warsaw. The Theological Faculty was funded in the year 1954 along with the Academy of Catholic Theology which was transformed in the CSWU in 1999. Even though the regular doctoral studies were founded at the Theological Faculty CSWU only in 1997, from its beginnings in 1954 many doctoral students fostered their education and defended their theses. The development of doctoral studies at the Theological Faculty CSWU is really impressive. Every specialization in theology has its own process of education. Besides the mother-place of the TF in Warsaw, the doctoral studies are conducted in several filial centers (Ołtarzew, Niepokalanów, Łódź, Łomża). In the present academic year 514 doctoral students improve their knowledge and skills at the TF CUSW. As to the future development, despite a baby bust in Poland and many other problems that must be faced, the professors of the Theological Faculty CSWU hope to maintain high level of education and comparable number of students enrolled in doctoral studies.

The article addresses the issue of the witness of the Father about Jesus in the Fourth Gospel. The topic is inscribed in the very essential theological message of the Gospel of John, according to which Jesus is the Messiah and the Son of God revealing the Father to the world. In two units of the Fourth Gospel (5:1-47 and 8:12-20) Jesus invokes the witness of the Father in order to prove his divine status. In the first passage Jesus argues that the witness of the Father about him is expressed by the witness of the people (John the Baptist), by Jesus’ works, and by the Scriptures. In the second passage he claims that the Father’s witness authenticates his divine origins, and that thanks to his status as the Son of God he is not subject to human judgment. In a third passage (12:20-36) examined in the article the voice of the Father coming from heaven gives the explicit witness confirming Jesus’ divine status and mission. The motif of the witness of the Father is strictly connected here with with the theme of the salvific activity of Jesus in the world as a means of increasing the glory of God.
