This article deals with calculation results of a two-speed synchronous, silent-pole, high power motor. Two-speed synchronous motors were built by replacing the stator winding with a switchable winding and connecting the rotor winding to two pairs of slip-rings located on the opposite sides of the machine. By switching the windings, two different but close in value, numbers of pairs of poles are obtained. Thus, two rotating speeds, differing in values by from 10 to 20 percent are obtained. The calculations based on the examined two dimensional, field-circuit model for the large power motor, type GAe 1510/12p were done. This motor is unique in that its field winding may be connected for 8 or 10 poles. Using the prepared model, calculations of static (load) characteristic were compiled. The following physical quantities were calculated: the magnetic field (normal component of the flux density) of the armature and field winding and the resultant magnetic field and the electromagnetic torque, for both rotating speed and two different configuration of field winding (work with 10 and 8 poles).

In this article the free vibration's calculation method, of the electrical motors with very complicated structure, are presented. An example of such machines are a two-speed synchronous motors. Calculation were done using two- and three dimensional FEM models. The aim of this paper is a presentation of the calculation results of the motor type GAe1510/12p which has two different rotational speeds: n=500 rpm (2p=12) and n=600 rpm (2p=10) and appertaining powers: P=600 kW and P=1050 kW. Results of the presented analysis are the next step in understanding problems existing in such motors, i.e. electromagnetic noise or vibration of electromagnetic origin.
