At the begining of a transformation the Polish Episcopate critized a separation of the church and the state, but it assured that it doesn’t think about organising a religious country. Relations between the church and the state should be based on respect of the sovereignty and independence. The Episkopat said that the church doesn’t suggest political solutions. The Episkopat thought that a future constitution should be turned to God, who is, for believers, the only justification of moral standards and a social order. The God is for all members of a society a guarantee of a self – respect and the law of a human being. The constitution should also protect peoples’ life, which is the highest value, an innate law, which cannot be given by the authorities.
