The paper raises the problem of the child as the Great Other, who appears in the novels of Doris Lessing The Fifth Child and Kenzaburo Öe A personal matter. In both works coming into the world of the Other – a handicapped boy – puts to the test the moral foundations of the conservative society. Nobel Prize winners are making human vivisection that shall specifically examine the persistence of attitudes and values such as parenthood, love, responsibility, confidence in front of drastic Otherness. The child manifests its differences, can not cope in relations with the environment, for which it is something dangerous, threatening ordered hierarchy of the family. Scandal also cause parents responsible for the birth of the ,,monster”. In Doris Lessing novel mother is excommunicated from the patriarchal society, in the prose of Öe father is alone in the community in which he lives with his son. For the analysis of the text the theory of Julia Kristeva on disgust will be used. Categories of abject, semiotic-ness, ,,the stranger in me” will help answer the question – why the hyperactive boy (The Fifth Child) and a boy with cerebral hernia (A personal matter) cause scandal and fear.

Bram Stoker’s "Dracula" (1897) is the most important and most renowned vampire novel, which inspired entire generations of filmmakers. The vampiric count, “with figure of eternal desire – and what’s more, both male and female, homo- and heterosexual” (to quote Maria Janion), had an influence on mass imagination of readers and spectators. In the twentieth century, Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau, Tod Browning, Werner Herzog and Francis Ford Coppola created the most important film adaptations of the Irish writer’s novel. By analyzing these four cinematic images, we can see the evolution of the vampire: how human features were attributed to him and how his sexualization proceeded (particularly in the F.F. Coppola’s movie). Four movie interpretations of Dracula’s character – vampire-monster, vampire-dandy, suffering vampire, vampire-tragic lover – were far from the actual image of the title character from Bram Stoker’s work. There are clear differences between the hero of the novel and his movie equivalents.

Interpretation of the relationship Tadeusz Zawadzki ”Zośka” and Jan Bytnar ”Rudy” – heroes Stones for the rampart by Alexander Kaminski made by Elizabeth Janicka, according to which the two men combined homoerotic love, caused the Polish literary environment and media controversy. This article attempts to answer the question: Is homosexuality in the text? With underlying thesis inspiring researcher, author Festung Warschau, is carried out detailed analysis of the Stones for the rampart. One of the main points of the article is an indication that the discussion is directed to novel wide audience literary text, fictional, despite existing prototypes characters actually work.
