The new data are presented, which argument for the hypothesis that J.F. Carosi (1744-1799) a Polish mineralogist and the mining expert, working in Poland at the end of XVIII century, was a Pole from the origin. He was born, probably, in Hungarian-Polish family. The supposition that he was the author of the series of articles on mineralogy, published in the Polish language in the journal ’’Zbior tygodniowy wiadomości uczonych” (The Weakly Collection of Scientific News), published in Caracow, is unequivocally confirmed. The less known Carosi’s papers, published in German journals, as well as his book ’’Bruchstucke” are discussed.
