Content available remote Součkovo Bláznovství kříže a dnešní teologie paradoxu

The study deals with the analysis of paradox as a form of theological thinking in an older text by J.B. Souček. It compares the text with more recent works on the subject. Souček draws on the paradoxes of the New Testament, especially the paradox of the cross in Paul the Apostle, and sees in it the structure of the entire Christian message (which he conceived ethically). More recent studies do not offer such an overall synthesis, but analyze the paradox of Christianity on the sub‑topics of biblical, systematic and fundamental theology. It is apparent that the expectations placed by the theology of the 1920s in the form of paradox were exaggerated, however, this approach allows a deeper understanding of certain aspects of the Christian message.

The author suggests an application of Wittgenstein's (1889-1951) theory of language games in catechesis. Catechesis should be more embracing of rules of Christian thinking and action than learning of propositions. Following Wittgenstein's thoughts, D. Z. Phillips (b. 1934) presents such rules in the perspective of philosophy of religion and G. A. Lindbeck (b. 1923) in the field of dogma. Lindbeck demonstrates that this approach is in coincidence with ancient Church catechesis, which was more an introduction to Christian life than a theoretical lecture. Religious education can be compared with the learning of a foreign language. The goal of such education is a skilled speaker (Christian) who is able to distinguish what is possible in a particular language (in Christianity). He/she does not simply repeat sentences or behaviors but he/she is able to create new ones. Lindbeck argues especially against a liberal catechesis. The author of this paper nevertheless rejects the opinion that Lindbeck accepts Wittgensteinian fideism that is contradictory to Christianity.

The author deals with the analogy of the dynamics of language change and the change in tradition within the wider project of the theory of tradition. He relies particularly on the work of German philologists. Special attention is paid to theories of semantic change from the point of view of historical semantics, theory of communication, as well as variationist sociolinguistics. He also considers the possibility of applying Rudi Keller‘s concept of "an invisible hand" to the dynamics of language change. Christian tradition has a language character. Therefore, it can be examined not only in analogy with language, but the change in tradition can be analysed directly as the change in language.

The author surprisingly argues that insufficient attention has been given to Luther‘s reading of the Scriptures. One of the few exceptions is Ebeling‘s pre-war dissertation. The thesis of the exposition is that Luther‘s reading of Scripture must be viewed within the mystical tradition in which Luther stands. Luther is not interested so much in special hermeneutics as in an expository technique. He instead takes an interest in opening up to the influence of God‘s Word and allowing it to work, with its tendency to incarnate in the world and in life. Here Luther stands in the tradition of the German mystical "Gelassenheit". The author believes that Gerhard Ebeling must have been aware of this. Dialectical theology rejecting mysticism prevented him, however, from admitting this connection. The current ecumenical situation, along with the contribution of Finnish research in Lutheran mysticism, allows us to reinterpret Ebeling‘s otherwise still incomparable work.

The author considers whether and to what extent Hamm’s model of emergence can be included among those models in which we try to capture the processes of tradition. This would obviously be appropriate where a straightforward relationship between the identified causes and the outcome cannot be determined. Beyond Hamm’s thesis, the author also examines the views of other authors on the issue of emergence. The article is a proposal in terms of genre. Thus, it presents this option for discussion, but does not apply it to specific cases. Cases of emergence can be expected, for example, in the tradition of the interpretation of the Scriptures and its "effective history".

The article deals with the question of whether post-critical (post-liberal) theology can be supported by some trends of contemporary biblical studies. It shows some authors who think about a change of paradigm. The historical-critical method should not be refused but integrated into a new synthesis that considers the Bible as the book of the Church and the book that must be read or explained in the Church. The author concludes that systematic theology between liberalism and fundamentalism can be supported by one of the important trends of contemporary biblical studies.

In this article, we have laid out an outline of the development of the Roman Catholic view of Luther as it appears in selected reflections by Catholic theologians. We have identified their views as being basically consensual. They introduce the same key Catholic figures and their similar views, the only differences between them being the accents on certains details and some mutual internal criticism of those who represent this development. We present a formal typology of Catholic views on Luther and a brief characterization of late twentieth century research based on our formulated terms in the second part. We look at Catholic works which were primarily published during the decade prior to the Reformation jubilee of 2017 in the third part. The Catholic works published thus far do not depart from our typology.

The aim of this process is the increase of the competitiveness. Very important role in the transformation of the enterprises has the business environment.
