The aim of this work was to ascertain the influence of applying various doses of organic fertilizers on the occurrence of the Carabidae and Staphylinidae families. The research was carried out in five treatments: 1) control treatment, 2) 25 t ha⁻¹ of farmyard manure, 3) 50 t ha⁻¹ of bio-sludge, 4) 50 t ha⁻¹ of farmyard manure, and 5) 100 t ha⁻¹ of bio-sludge. Coleoptera was represented by 87,324 individuals, Carabidae with a dominance of 80.53 to 86.28%, and Staphylinidae from 5.36 to 8.32%. Carabidae recorded the highest number for the 5th treatment, for 16,534 individuals, with the lowest number being for the 4th treatment, for 12,322 individuals. Staphylinidae recorded the highest number for the 4th treatment, with a frequency of 1,273 individuals, and the lowest number was for the 2nd treatment, with 934 individuals. When considering the crops grown that produce convenient individual conditions, crops producing shading, Helianthus annuus and Zea mays were preferred. The statistical evaluation did not confirm the effect of treatments, temperature, precipitation, and year of the occurrence of Carabidae. The effect of the treatment was not confirmed statistically in Staphylinidae, and the impact of the year, temperature, and precipitation were significant.

Do badań wytypowano 10 jezior o zróżnicowanym użytkowaniu zlewni - grunty orne i lasy. Próby z warstwy powierzchniowej i naddennej jezior oraz wód dopływających i odpływających z badanych jezior, pobrano w trzech terminach: podczas cyrkulacji wiosennej i jesiennej oraz podczas stagnacji letniej. W pobranych próbach oznaczono zawartość azotu ogółem, azotanów, jonów amonowych i fosforanów oraz pH. Stwierdzono, że wody jezior o rolniczym zagospodarowaniu zlewni charakteryzują się wyższą zawartością azotanów niż porównawcze jeziora śródleśne. Zawartość różnych form azotu w wodach jezior wykazuje zmienność sezonową w ciągu roku.

Water of 10 lakes with different catchment management (arable fields and forests) were investigated. Samples of water from surface and bottom (taken in spring, summer and autumn), for total nitrogen, nitrates and ammonium were analysed. Water of in-field lakes contains higer concentration of nitrate - nitrogen than lakes of forest catchment management. The content of various N- form changed with year seasons, i.e. concentrations of nitrates of both lake types were lowest in summer.

In 2010, 2011, and 2013 we assessed the water of the Čičov Oxbow National Nature Reserve in the southwestern part of the Slovak Republic for concentrations of organic substances. Collections of samples were realized regularly at monthly intervals, always about in the half of the month. Sampling sites were determined in order to assess the impact of natural and anthropogenic source of surface water quality. The results were compared from the limit values set out in Government Regulation No. 269/2010 Coll. The average value of BOD₅ for the whole period was 1.58 mg O₂ dm⁻³. The highest average concentration of biodegradable organic matter was in February and the minimum in May. Depending on the sampling site, we found the highest average value for the whole monitored period in the northeastern part of Čičov Reserve, and the lowest in the sampling site situated approximately 150 m from the mouth of Čilizian Stream in the reserve. The average value of CODCr for the entire monitored period represented 60.69 mg O₂ dm⁻³. Depending on the time of sampling, minimum average value was in February and maximum in September. Depending on the sampling site, we found the highest average value for the whole monitored period in the sampling site located approximately 150 m from the mouth of the Čilizian. The average value of the BOD₅ /CODCr ratio during the years 2010, 2011, and 2013 was 0.026.
