The article describes a monetary attempt of reinforcing the sense of belonging of the Ziemie Odzyskane to Poland by issuing of a commemorative coin Byliśmy, Jesteśmy, Będziemy in the year 1970. The presented ten-zloty coin refers, in its symbolism, to the Piast dynasty and its connections with the above mentioned lands. The choice of the coats of arms of seven voivodship towns: Koszalin, Gdańsk, Szczecin, Olsztyn, Zielona Góra, Wrocław and Opole on the reverse is often outwardly inexplicable. Heraldic inaccuracies were the coin’s strength and showed that historic reality is not as important as the overtone of a precisely chosen image. Also the eagle on the obverse taken from Casimir’s III the Great seal does not fi t the discussed lands incorporated by Poland after the Second World War but thanks to its characteristics and beauty it must have been associated through the king with a strong and independent country.

The aim of the following contribution is to examine the fi nances of the Early modern city of Kołobrzeg through the prism of its debts. This is possible thanks to the Credit Tabelle der Stadt Colberg from the year 1718 containing information concerning credits raised by the city from various debt holders. The article shows the tragic fi nancial condition of Pomeranian towns and the attempts to heal them undertaken by the authorities. Thanks to this table, one obtain information not only about Kołobrzeg’s expenses for which the city took credits, but also about the mortgage and whether the credits were paid off. This source also allows an insight into the Prussian state politics penetrating not only the administrative, but also economically-fi nancial affairs of Pomeranian towns in order to unify them with the rest of the country.
