The paper presents the results of research on the effect of spark discharge variation in a supercharged biogas engine, equipped with a thyristor adaptive ignition system, on gas engine cycle parameters. The limits of non-repeatability of particular electrical variations have been estimated on the basis of measurements, and the relation of this non-repeatability to the non-repeatability of the indicated parameters of the engine(indicated work, combustion angles for 2%, 10%, 50%, 90% and 100% doses of fuel) has beenexamined.

The paper presents the effect ofthe accuracy of digital recording of indicated pressure variation on the results ofthe analysis of enginecycle indicatedparameters, and particularly on the accuracy of calculation of indicated work, the heat release process, combustion angles, and working medium temperature in the combustion-gas zone and in the non-combusted charge zone. The analysis allows for the effect of sampling density, the effect of the accuracy of IDC (Inner Dead Centre) angle determination, the effect of NC converter resolution and the accuracy of determination of engine compression ratio and cylinder pressure corresponding to the ambientpressure. The parameters of a system for recordinghigh voltage variations in the ignitionsystemhave also been established.

The performance and emission characteristics of biogas-fuelled cogeneration (electrical and thermal power) set driven by biogas-fuelled Cegielski 8A20G engine were investigated by the Department of Internal Combustion Engines and Control Engineering of the Technical University of Częstochowa.

Satellite navigation in vehicle traction research

The paper presents the results of vehicle traction research obtained with the use of system consisting of satellite signals receiver working in GPS standard and the differential system with reference station (DGPS) allowing to register among others the temporary coordinates of location and velocity of the researched vehicle in global reference World Geodetic System - 1984 (WGS-*$) with the frequency of 20 Hz. As a result of research into vehicle acceleration on selected gear the characteristics taking into consideration the influence of weather conditions and the road vertical profile were determined. The research proved full usefulness of the satellite navigation system to realize the thesis presented in the title of the paper and showed that it can be the alternative for other techniques of vehicle traction research.

W pracy przedstawiono wyniki badań trakcyjnych pojazdu samochodowego uzyskane przy pomocy systemu zawierającego odbiorniki sygnałów satelitarnych pracujące w systemie GPS i systemu różnicowego współpracującego ze stacją referencyjną (DGPS) pozwalające na rejestrację m.in. chwilowych współrzędnych położenia i prędkości badanego pojazdu w układzie elipsoidalnym (x,y,z-układ WGS-84) z częstliwością 20 Hz. W wyniku prób rozpędzania pojazdu samochodowego na wybranym biegu sporządzono jego charakterystyki zewnetrzne, z uwzględnieniem warunków atmosferycznych i profilu pionowego trasy. Badania wykazały pełną przydatność systemu nawigacji satelitarnej do realizacji tezy zawartej w tytule, która to może stanowić alternatywę dla innych metod badań trakcyjnych samochodu.
