The article presents basic objectives of the e-learning as the method of improving knowledge management process at the university. University is presented as an organisation which creates, gathers, transfers and uses knowledge. There is also provided an overwiew of fundamental concepts of e-learning. The article also presents a case study of the development process of e-learning at Polish Open University.
