With the advent of reliable and easy to use femtosecond laser sources, nas emerged : last decades a new ultrasonic technique : "the picosecond acoustics". This technique now allows to investigate the elastic properties of samples as thin as a few nanometers in In this lecture, the main features of the method will be outlined. Then, in order to : the achievements of the techniąue, a recent work aimed at studying the interfacial and the aging of an organic/ metal junction, will be described. We used the acoustics to show that an interfacial layer is created during the metal deposition The thickness of the interfacial zone (about 3 nm) is estimated through the analysis s vibrational modes of the junction. On account of the broadening of the interfacial layer, i frequency of the normal modes varies as time elapses. It will be shown that this aging is l with the alteration of the electrical transport properties within the organic material.
