The mam goal of this paper is to present the SIRMA project: A network for innovative e-Development of Mazovia, which was initiated by the Cities on Internet Association and its role in animating information society's development and further, development of the region. Analyses of materials concerning the project, polls interviewed with both initiators and beneficiaries and eventually, analyses of literature referring to the issue, were chosen as a research methods. The SIRMA project will be characterized in this paper its goals, scope, realized stages and achieved results. The other aspect will be a degree, in which it fulfills strategic documents of the region. Special attention will be paid to a project called SIGMA, which was initiated by SIRMA during its lasting thought the whole year 2007. This e-Initiative was created by representatives of 27 of Mazovian municipalities. The last aspect will be defining factors, which determined SIRMA project's success and finally, a range in ivhich it influences Hit development of Mazovia region.
