The article is aimed at presenting the principles of Business Process Maturity Models (BPMM). They can be identified as a set of recommendations and good practices in achieving operational efficiency of performed processes. When process approach is a paradigm and according to available research organizations are becoming process – centric, the BPMM’s are beginning to be seen as the sources of sustainable competitive advantage and also a tool for obtaining operational excellence. As there is a very large number of documented maturity models the article also presents the results of literature study aiming at identify the most common existing models as well as present their main features and benefits.
The aim of this article is a presentation of methodologies which refer to improvement of processes and products defined as Six Sigma. The workers' qualifications play the essential role in the implementation of improvement projects while utilizing these methodologies. The organizations which are using Six Sigma as the tool operating improvement try to actively include all the workers in realization of these projects. The employees have to have a cycle of intensive trainings. These courses could help them to acquire the knowledge which is necessary to use the tools and techniques for the implementation of improvements.
Building partner relationships is largely the result of some kind of evolution from the repetitive transactions based on loyalty to the source of purchase and trust between partners. As there is a very large number of documented maturity models the article also presents the results of literature study aiming at firstly identifying the existing models and secondly introducing their classification according to theoretical components recognized in the literature.
Companies which are business customers also notice that a prerequisite for good cooperation with suppliers is providing them with quality of product and management systems specifications. The criteria which may determine temporary evaluation of a supplier include: the level of technical quality which is offered, advantageous price conditions, deliveries meeting deadlines, favourable payment deadlines, having a quality system, the level of assistance, responding to complaints. Many companies also assess suppliers on the basis of their level of management focusing on their system of certificates (ISO 9001, ISO 14001). The results of research indicated that companies building relations with suppliers most frequently employ a supplier opinion survey, clear products’ specifications, implementation of quality management system ISO 9001, periodical coefficients of the suppliers’ opinion, auditing suppliers, trainings for suppliers, informative services available from websites and team-building meetings as well as implementation of environmental manage- ment system (EMS) conform to ISO 14001. Observing world trends, one may notice easily that recently suppliers have been monitored from the point of view of meeting the sustainable development requirements following economic aspects (demanding high technical quality, delivery reliability, price competitiveness, technical support), more and more often also environ- mental aspects and social aspects.
The article presents theoretical considerations on the causes of the formation and develop- ment of clusters. Made to identify factors that make these processes. Presents the characteristics of the key elements of transport infrastructure, both those already existing in the region of Łódź and planned by the central and local government. Based on the theoretical dependence and forecasts made by general government has been to identify specific places in which already exist or will arise in the future logistics clusters. Particular attention has been paid here to the role played by transport infrastructure. The result is forecast covers the development of logistics clusters in the region of Łódź. Presented factors that confirm the possibility of implementing developed forecasts as well as its potential risks.

One of the chief factors determining the level of innovation-related abilities in companies is, certainly, knowledge diffusion. Therefore, in order that highly increasing customers’ needs could be met in harmony with customer-driven supply chain orientation, logistic managers are in a position to take initiative and expand the range as well as enhance the quality of service. Apart from providing basic logistic services, i.e. transport or warehousing raw materials as well as finished goods, there appears a need to enrich one’s services with innovations concerning not only materials and information management but also creating added value for the customer.
