Aeromonads have been isolated from varied environmental sources such as polluted and drinking water, as well as from tissues and body fluids of cold and warm-blooded animals. A phenotypically and genotypically heterogenous bacteria, aeromonads can be successfully identified by ribotyping and/or by analysing gyrB gene sequence, apart from classical biochemical characterization. Aeromonads are known to cause scepticemia in aquatic organisms, gastroenteritis and extraintestinal diseases such as scepticemia, skin, eye, wound and respiratory tract infections in humans. Several virulence and antibiotic resistance genes have been identified and isolated from this group, which if present in their mobile genetic elements, may be horizontally transferred to other naive environmental bacteria posing threat to the society. The extensive and indiscriminate use of antibiotics has given rise to many resistant varieties of bacteria. Multidrug resistance genes, such as NDM1, have been identified in this group of bacteria which is of serious health concern. Therefore, it is important to understand how antibiotic resistance develops and spreads in order to undertake preventive measures. It is also necessary to search and map putative virulence genes of Aeromonas for fighting the diseases caused by them. This review encompasses current knowledge of bacteriological, environmental, clinical and virulence aspects of the Aeromonas group and related diseases in humans and other animals of human concern.
There is a resurgence of interest in the study of occurrence, genotype and pathogenic associations of human Polyomaviruses in recent years. In the present study, we have ascertained the presence of human Polyomavirus JC (JCV) in the urine and peripheral blood leukocytes of tribal populations, for the first time in the North-Eastern part of West Bengal State of India. We have also characterized the prevalent genotypes of the non-coding control regions (NCCRs) of these natural isolates. The result suggests a high incidence of JCV reactivation in the populations assayed. Approximately 25% of the non-immunocompromized tribal men and women, tested positive based on polymerase chain reaction (PCR) analysis, and these results were further confirmed by sequencing of PCR products. Pairwise sequence comparison and alignment of the NCCR sequence of these Indian strains appeared to be comparable and related to the archetypal JCV (CY) andthe Tibetan LH3 strains, with some alterations in few key positions. The sequence analyses were done with regard to transcription factor binding to DNA sequence elements of endemic JCV NCCRs.
Sieci aktywne stanowią znaczący krok w rozwoju sieci z komutacją pakietów, od tradycyjnych sieci z prostymi węzłami pakietowymi do systemów umożliwiających dynamiczne sterowanie i modyfikację zasad działania sieci. Przedstawiono potencjalne zastosowania sieci aktywnych wraz z wyzwaniami, którym należy sprostać aby wprowadzić te sieci do eksploatacji.

Active networks represent a significant step in the evolution of packet-switched networks, from traditional packet-forwarding engines to more general functionality supporting dynamic control and modification on the network behavior. However, the phrase 'active network' means different things to different people. This article introduces a model and nomenclature for talking about active networks, describes some possible approaches in terms of that nomenclature, and presents various aspects of the architecture being developed in the DARPA-funded active networks program. Potential applications of active networks are highlighted, along with some of the challenges that must be overcome to make them a reality.
There are abundant methods to mitigate PAPR in OFDM signals among which algorithm based tone reservation is of great popularity owing to its low complexity as well as decent BER. Here we have put forward a new distinct algorithm based Tone Reservation technique which is not only less complex and calculates its own threshold as well as PRT signal (unlike other algorithms requiring predetermined threshold and PRT) but also aptly modifies the data by bit by bit comparison with a modified copy of itself (algorithm modified) thus scaling the peaks as and providing a decent BER and good PAPR reduction.
