Wprowadzenie: Uraz ciśnieniowy płuc to uszkodzenie tkanek płuc wynikający z różnicy ciśnień ciała i otoczenia.

Introduction: Pulmonary barotrauma consists in the damage of pulmonary tissues resulting from pressure differences in the body and the surroundings. Barotrauma may occur during diver's ascent with a held breath. Objective: Presentation of symptoms in divers performing dives at shallow depths. A detailed description of pulmonary barotrauma as a direct hazard to life. Rescue procedure in the case of an occurrence of pulmonary barotrauma, methods of prevention. Abridged description of the state of knowledge: Proper equipment preparation, systematic diving training, as well as systematic medical control aimed at conducting medical examinations with regard to staying under water, all constitute primary preventive measures. At the moment of an occurrence of pulmonary barotrauma in a diver it is necessary to perform first aid activities by qualified medical personnel and arrange for a quick transportation to the nearest hyperbaric centre. Summary: Commonly, pulmonary barotrauma concerns individuals diving at depths up to 10 metres. Pulmonary barotrauma is a state of danger to one's health and life. Proper procedures at the scene of an accident as well as quick transportation to a hyperbaric chamber increase the chance of one's recovery and may constitute the necessary condition during rescue activities.

Introduction: Scientific communities are beginning to recognize more and more tension, burden and sometimes joy associated with caring for child with autism. Purpose: To determine the impact of the disease on functioning of a family with an autistic child. Material and Methods: We analyzed 83 families with children diagnosed with autistic disease, including 30 Polish families, 25 families from Belarus and 28 families from France. Parents filled in a questionnaire assessing their knowledge about problems associated with raising an autistic child. Results: Parents from Poland found most difficult to accept the child's health condition, and families from France coped with the problem best. For all parents the dominant impression after hearing the diagnosis was shock, French parents were the least likely to associate the disease as a punishment for their sins, which in turn often occurred among respondents from Poland and Belarus. Parents from Belarus frequently complained about problems their autistic child had with learning (about ¾ of responses). While Polish parents surprisingly often recognized as the most onerous carrying out procedures related to the treatment of the child, they often complained about depression, sadness, insomnia. Respondents from Belarus most frequently could enjoy every day. Among the behaviours of autistic children differentiating the examined countries were: disobedience (by far the least indications in France), persistence (the lowest percentage in Belarus) and lies (parents from Poland most often complained about that). Among the parents' reaction to the annoying and stressful child's behaviour the attempts to admonish and explain were dominant, but these were parents from Poland, who frequently admitted that they shoutat the child. Conclusions: Among parents' reaction to the annoying and stressful child's behavior is an attempt to admonish and explain, moreover, Polish parents frequently admit to shout at the child. There are differences in the perception of the problems of parents of autistic children in selected countries, like Poland, France, and Belarus.

This paper presents issues regarding the administrative and legal aspects of retail trading of the medicinal products. Because one of the most important goods protected by law is health, the regulations included in the branch of administrative law are to serve its protection. Nor can one forget that public authorities must protect public health. The state carries out its tasks, among other things, by introducing restrictions on retail trade of the medicinal products. Such limitations have been inscribed into the essence of the social market economy, which is characterised by parallel economic and social goals. Although all kinds of restrictions on the issue are justified, they are somewhat restrictive.

Purpose: The study was aimed at getting to know students' opinions on abortion, the circumstances that authorize it, and analysis of factors that may influence the views of the studied group. Materials and methods: The study was conducted among 687 students from various regions of Poland. The respondents answered questions about the abortion law and circumstances entitling them to terminate the pregnancy. Results: The majority of respondents (42.1%) are of the opinion that the current law protects the mother and the child well enough. 58.5% of respondents said that abortion in cases permitted by law is not a sin. Referring to the church's prohibition of abortion, 44.5% of respondents voted for its abolition. Considering the answer to this question in terms of religiosity, it turns out that 31.7% of believers taking part in the study would like this ban to be lifted. Conclusions: Factors such as gender, place of residence, having or willingness to have children influence abortion views. Factors such as the field of study and having a permanent partner do not affect abortion views. Faith has a big impact on abortion views, and believers are more likely than non-believers to forbid abortion or restrict the right to abortion, while much less often advocate unrestricted rights to abortion.

Introduction: Pneumoconioses (Pc) are interstitial pulmonary diseases of professional genesis, caused by long-term inhalation of high dust concentrations. Pcafflict 26.6-53% of the workers, exposed to dust contamination. The major feature of Pc course is irrevocability and incurability. Purpose: The research of the effect of ethylmethyl hydroxypyridine succinate, possessing antioxidant and antihypoxant characteristics, on the oxygen metabolism, acid-alkaline state, and lipid peroxidation at the background of experimental pneumoconiosis in albino rats. Material and methods: Pneumoconiosis was simulated on 72 albino rats through endotracheal injection of black coal suspension, on our own modification of O. Yu. Nykolenko methodology. Results: Manifestations of experimental pneumo-coniosis depended on the period of dust inhalation. Development of experimental pneumoconiosis was found to result in the decreased partial oxygen pressure in the arterial blood, compensated hyperventilation-induced respiratory alkalosis, and marked increase in lipid peroxidation activity that could be seen in the blood content of malon-dialdehyde, as well as of conjugated dienes and trienes. Conclusions: Application of ethylmethylhydroxy pyridine succinate in experimental pneumoconiosis has been found to improve oxygen metabolism, acid-alkaline state, and lipid peroxidation that is revealed in normalization of the partial oxygen pressure in the arterial blood, oxygen saturation of haemoglobin, index of bases’ deficiency BE (Ваse-Ехсеss), and in 1.6-2.0 decrease in the content of malondialdehyde, as well as of conjugated dienes and trienes.

Introduction: Problems of families with autism are generally not visible or manifested, but without support, they become economically and educationally inefficient. Purpose: To assess the degree of empathic understanding of the child and the degree of emotional control by parents. Materials and methods: The study included 30 families from Poland, 25 from Belarus and 28 from France. We used Empathy Understanding Others questionnaire (KRE) and The Courtauld Emotional Control Scale (CECS). Results: The most common difficulty reported in the care of a child was gaining his/her independence (66.7% in Poland, 84% in Belarus, 78.6% in France). Parents from Poland more often (26.7%) than others (12% in Belarus, 3.6% in France) pointed out that the disability of a child caused that their friends turned their back to them. 40% of parents from Poland, 60% from Belarus and 57.1% from France claimed that the spouses accept the disability of the child. The disability induced in parents mainly fatigue (76.7% from Poland, 44% from Belarus, 71.4% from France). The level of empathy in Polish (64.2 ± 6.2) and French parents (64.8 ± 11.6) was almost identical, and the highest was among Belarusian parents (70.3 ± 8.3). Overall rate of CECS of the surveyed parents was at the average level (from Poland 47.4 ± 4.9; from Belarus 44.8 ± 6.1, from France 48.1 ± 6.0). Conclusions: Nurses evaluated their own preparation for educational activities usually very low. In the majority they would not want to take up the difficult role of educators of parents of autistic children. Due to a potential contact of a nurse with a child with autism and the child’s family, it is advisable to extend the knowledge of nurses in the care of a child with autism.

Introduction: Atrial fibrillation (AF) is one of the most frequent arrhythmias. In Poland, there is a risk of developing AF in about 400,000 people. Atrial fibrillation occurs most frequently as a result of disorders of physiological automatism and afterdepolarization and triggered activity. The treatment strategy of AF is based on pharmacological treatment and procedures such as ablation or cardioversion. The quality of life as defined by the WHO is an individual perception of one's well-being. On the other hand, the assessment of the quality of life in illness is modified regarding health problems. Purpose: The main goal of the study was to get to know the quality of life of people with atrial fibrillation. Materials and methods: The research was carried out using a diagnostic survey, based on a survey among 100 patients diagnosed with AF. The place of the research was the Regional Specialist Hospital in Biała Podlaska, in the Emergency Department. Results: Increased morbidity was observed among women and people over the age of 60. The majority of patients with AF declared the quality of life at the medium level. The respondents most often followed medical recommendations. The majority of respondents did not follow healthy lifestyle rules, because as many as 68% of respondents did not do any physical activity and a significant part of the respondents smoked cigarettes and had an inflated BMI. Conclusion: AF affects the quality life by causing sadness, irritation and insomnia.
