The systematics of Mallophaga from Passeriformes was subjected to revision; genera were determined on the basis of taxonomic features i. e. in the narrow incidence limits. A number of new species and genera are described. Thus conceived system proved to be very complex and as compared with systematics of Passeriformes it revealed.

On the basis of morphological examinations of the head of Bovicola caprae, Cervicola meyeri and C. tibialis, carried out in the scaning electron microscope, the species descriptions received up to now, were supplemented with new characters. An attention has been paid to rather primitive type of antennal sesilla coeloconica (with developed cone) as well as the lack of accompanying pore organs, characteristic also of other Ischnocera.

The author deals with the deletorious effect of Mallophaga on host with particular reference to breeding animals. The available literature contains scarse information about the action of Mallophaga as parasites and disease transmitters. The fight against them is, nowhere, sufficiently energetic. In author's opinion the losses in the animal production due to Mallophaga may be so serious as to justify a large-scale campaign aimed at the destruction of the parasites. To support her view, the author quotes a number of data concerning Mallophaga parasitism suggesting that fut ure examinations might result in the detection of several diseases transmitted by them. A brief survey of methods efficient against Mallophaga is given.

Some morphologically similar species of bitting lice occur on common hosts. These synhospital species are more similar to the corresponding species infesting other related hosts than to each other. It seems not to be justified to place synhospital species within the common genera and subgenera, because such classification might not reflect the true phyllogenetic relationship. It would be more reasonable to separate the synhospital species according to the morphological criteria and to include them into different genera and subgenera. Basing on that principle I propose to divide the genus Anatoecus Cumm. into subgenus A. (Anatoecus) Cumm. and A. (Benatoecus) subg. n. All species or subspecies of "icterodes" group I classify to the first subgenus, and the "dentatus" to the second one. The species or subspecies of these both groups do form numerous synhospital pairs. Besides I propose to separate the genus Laminonirmus gen. n. out of the genus Koeniginirmus Eichl. Also I establish on that occasion that a few species and subspecies of that genus form synhospital pairs with subspecies Koeniginirmus punctatus (Burm). In the genus Quadraceps Clay et Meinertz. I have established one pair of synhospital species [(fissus (Burm.) and hiaticulae (O. Fabr.)] appearing on Charadrius hiaticula L. In the revision on the genus Quadraceps I propose to separate out a new genus Chadraceps gen. n. and between others I classify the species of hiaticulae into that genus, while fissus stays in the genus Quadraceps. After these investigations it appears that the synhospitalism is not usual phenomenon between the Mallophaga.
