Veganisation of the Academy and New Humanities: Veganism in the Context of Literary and Cultural Studies The concept of “veganisation of the Academy” and “vegan turn” formulated by the author of the text refers to a growing interest of literary and cultural theorists, philosophers and psychologists in veganism perceived both as a practice and philosophy. The essay explores the history of this interest and focuses on its climax marked by the publication of The Vegan Studies Project. Food, Animals and Gender in the Age of Terror by Laura Wright, the monograph which creates the foundations for vegan studies. The essay makes an attempt to grasp the specificity of vegan studies in the context of human-animal studies, ecocriticism and animal rights movements and places it on the map of contemporary humanities, with a special attention paid to the concept of prefigurative humanities proposed by Ewa Domańska. Seen in this light vegan studies emerges not only as a way to read literary and cultural text but also as a platform for a debate about an alternative vision of future.

Weganizacja akademii i nowa humanistyka, czyli o weganizmie w kontekście badań literacko-kulturowych Zaproponowane przez autorkę pojęcia „weganizacji akademii” i „wegańskiego zwrotu” odnoszą się do rosnącego zainteresowania badaczy – literaturoznawców, kulturoznawców, filozofów czy też psychologów – weganizmem postrzeganym zarówno jako praktyka jak i filozofia. Artykuł omawia historię tego zainteresowania oraz skupia się na kulminacyjnym momencie w historii naukowej refleksji nad weganizmem wyznaczonym przez publikację przez Laurę Wright The Vegan Studies Project. Food, Animals and Gender in the Age of Terror, monografii, która tworzy fundamenty dla studio nad weganizmem. Artykuł podejmuje próbę określenia specyfiki studiów nad weganizmem w kontekście studiów nad zwierzętami, ekokrytyki i ruchów na rzecz zwierząt oraz miejsca, jakie zajmują na mapie współczesnej humanistyki ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem wprowadzonej przez Ewę Domańską koncepcji humanistyki prefiguratywnej. Widziane w tym ujęciu studia nad weganizmem mogą stać się platformą debaty na temat możliwości stworzenia alternatywnej wizji przyszłości.

Marzena Kubisz "I am my own hiding place": On (Clean) Windows and Binoculars or Spaces of Transparency and Secrecy The essay examines literary (contemporary British fiction) and visual (Western art and film) representations of windows as a space of exposition and transgression in respect to the liminal character of their presence in the cultural (architectural, social and psychological) landscape. Seen from the perspective of Goffman's sociology of impression management a "window spectacle," i.e looking out of the window and being exposed to the gaze of the other, entails questions concerning control and self-control, social transparency and secrecy and can be approached in terms of the role it plays in the process of "presentation of self in everyday life" and inhabiting of the private and public spaces.
