In deciduous forests (mainly Melico-Fagetum and Fago-Quercetum petraeae) of the central part of the Puszcza Bukowa (NW Poland) 19 species of Elateridae, 1 of Eucnemidae and 1 of Throscidae were found. Besides, outside the area under detailed investigation (in agrocenoses, on fens among cultivated fields, in mixed forests), 6 more elaterid species were collected. Old data on the occurrence of Denticollis rubens and Stenagostus villosus - rare species, characteristic of large natural woodlands - in the Western Pomerania were confirmed. The following species are new to the Pomeranian Lake Region: Pseudathous hirtus, Anostirus castaneus, Ampedus rufipennis, Agriotes acuminatus. The studied area is poor with respect to its fauna of Elateroidea, the main reason being forest management, even in nature reserves.

As a result of the research carried out in 1983-1993 (with consideration for the results of the research conducted before WWII by German entomologists) in the Bielinek forest-steppe reserve 57 species of click beetles were found (Elateridae, Eucnemidae, Throscidae). The zoogeographical and ecological characteristics of click beetles fauna of the area was presented. As a result a high share of species related to Submeridian-Atlantic climate was found in the reserve as well as the species which in terms of range are included in the Ponto-Mediterranean and Mediterranean elements. A hypothesis on the origin of the click beetles fauna of the area was presented. It was stated that the species that are climatic relicts (late Pleistocene and previous periods of Holocene) are very poorly represented in the fauna (2 species related to forest-steppe habitats: Porthmidius austriacus and Melanotus crassicollis). The species that are habitat relicts of natural forests (e.g. Lacon querceus, Limoniscus violaceus, Stenagostus rhombeus, Hypoganus inunctus, Ischnodes sanguinicollis, Brachygonus dubius, Ampedus cardinalis, Elater ferrugineus, Isorhipis melasoides) are much more numerous. Taking the above into consideration it was found that the fauna of click beetles of the Bielinek reserve has a specific, unique character and in this respect the reserve can be counted among the most valuable refugia of unique fauna in Poland, and probably also in Europe.

In the years 2015-2016, new localities of mud dauber wasp Sceliphron destillatorium (Illiger, 1807) were found in the Małopolska Upland and in the Świętokrzyskie Mountains. The species has not yet been recorded neither from Radom and the Kozienice Forest nor from the Świętokrzyski National Park. In Poland, Sceliphron destillatorium is spreading its range in north-western direction.

In the present preliminary study we report an investigation on taxonomic status of individuals displaying diagnostic traits of intermediate values between the morphologically typical forms of Athous haemorrhoidalis (Fabricius 1801) and A. vittatus (Gmelin 1790) species occurring sympatrically. The presence of the "intermediate form" invoked the hypothesis of interspecific hybridization between A. haemorrhoidalis and A. vittatus species. An alternative explanation is that the "intermediate form" comprises individuals that are morphological variants of either of the species, without interspecific gene flow. We used partial sequences of two mitochondrial genes coding for the cytochrome oxidase subunit I (cox1) and 16S ribosomal RNA (rrnL), respectively. Additionally, we examined the variability of five polymorphic allozyme loci: 6Pgd, Idh, Mdh, Pgm and Gpi. Altogether, 28 A. haemorrhoidalis, 7 A. vittatus and 8 "intermediate form" individuals were included into the study. Phylogenetic analyses produced the trees of a consistent topology with high statistical support regardless of the method used. The specimens signified as the "intermediate form" constituted a monophyletic group with individuals of A. vittatus species. Empirical data confirmed that the reproductive isolation between the species studied is complete. No haplotype was shared between A. haemorrhoidalis and A. vittatus in sympatry. Similar results were obtained using the analysis of allozyme data. Especially at Idh and 6Pgd loci, alleles characteristic for A. vittatus and the "intermediate form" were not found in A. haemorrhoidalis, despite the larger sample examined. This suggests that the "intermediate form" is a phenotypic variant of A. vittatus without the signature of introgression.
