This article aims to examine the relationship between consumption and the globalization process. Subjected to a verification of the hypothesis: consumption by their functions (economic function, social function, information function) stimulates the process of widening and deepening interdependence between countries. In considering consumption is defined based on the system of consumption. This approach of the consumption is the basis for the analysis of the social dimension of globalization (KOF Index of Globalization). As a result, it is concluded that consumption of: (1) affects the productivity of individuals, (2) shaping the intellectual and cultural capital where a high level of formation leads to lower transaction costs, and good interpersonal communication, (3) is an important source of information for market decisions undertaken in other areas of the economy.
