Various types of hypospadias and methods of surgical treatment of this anomaly in 6 dogs was described in this article. Methods of surgical treatment were set up individually for each case and depended on the type of hypospadias and coexisting anomalies. Shortening of the penis was performed in two dogs, amputation in three cases and an urethral reconstruction in one patient. Castration was performed in three cases. Persistent frenulum of the prepuce was found in two dogs. Additionally three patients were submitted to the plastic surgery of the prepuce anomalies. In one dog, the loose and free falling part of the prepuce was suspended and attached to the abdominal integument according to the original own method. In all dogs, uncomplicated wound healing was observed. Surgical procedures resulted in improved cosmesis with reducing clinical signs of hypospadias and other coexistent anomalies.

The aim of the research was to evaluate the impact and effectiveness of HILT in the treatment of the most common orthopedic diseases in horses, such as osteoarthritis and tendon injury. The research was carried out on a group of 6 horses diagnosed with osteoarthritis or an injury of the digital flexor tendon, which were treated by HILT. The evaluation of the treatment was based on orthopedic and ultrasound examination performed before and after treatment. There was no need for pharmacological sedation in any of the horses. The average duration of one treatment session was 11 minutes and 45 seconds. The average number of treatment sessions per one horse in the course of the laser therapy was 10.5. No health deterioration was observed in any of the patients, but in one patient the treatment had no positive effects.

The aim of the experiment was to develop a new surgical treatment of the follicular conjunctivitis of third eyelid in dogs by means of the surgical CO2 laser, and to evaluate its effectiveness. Material and Methods. Surgical ablation of follicles by means of a CO2 laser (Aesculight) was performed on 10 dogs with the follicular conjunctivitis of the third eyelid unsusceptible to pharmacological treatment. The following parameters were assessed: intraoperative bleeding and the duration of surgery, postoperative presence of discharge or bleeding, desire to scratch the treated area, blepharospasm, and third eyelid deformity. Results and conclusions. The selected setting of the laser made it possible to carry out the procedure with reduced carbonization and good visibility in the operating field. The mean duration of the procedure was 47.4 seconds (± 15.10). The presence of discharge was noted for up to 3 days after surgery. No recurrence of follicular inflammation was observed. Surgical treatment of lymphoid follicles with the CO2 laser ensures a quick and effective execution of the procedure, resulting in a good clinical effect and postoperative comfort of the animal.

The aim of this study was to show different methods for the recognition of abnormalities in the determination of fenotypical, gonadal and chromosomal sex such as hermaphroditism in dogs. The subject of examination was a 9-month-old Yorkshire terrier with clinical signs of hermaphroditism. Clinical examination led to a definition of fenotypical sex and coexisting dysgenesis (perineal hypospadias). Clinical examination appeared insufficient for recognition of the type of hermaphroditism, additional tests needed to be conducted to reach the full diagnosis. Ultrasonographic examination, hormonal profile, diagnostic laparotomy, as well as a histopathological examination, were performed in order to define the gonadal sex. Chromosomal sex was defined on the basis of karyotyping.
