The reuse of wooden elements from boats in building construction is a relatively new concept and remains poorly investigated. Buildings of this kind can be an important source for research on river vessel construction and wooden building construction in rural areas and small towns. The paper presents issues related to the reuse of ship elements in wooden architecture in the regions along the Vistula River with reference to buildings of this type identified in other parts of Poland. Threats are also presented, as well as recommendations for research, which should be undertaken in the future in order to fully describe the characteristic features of this building type.

In the Neolithic at the Gdańsk Bay appears a population which starts a large-scale exploitation of marine resources. In the literature it is accepted that one of the main activities of these communities was seal hunting. This is indicated by finds of bones of these animals discovered during archaeological excavations, mainly in the settlement in Rzucewo. According to the available sources and analogies seal hunting was rather ad hoc and seasonal activity, while the main occupation was fishing. It is assumed that seals were hunted with harpoons, but almost complete lack of this type of objects indicates that seal hunting was carried out probably by simpler methods. Seals were not hunted in distant places, but in the vicinity of the settlement in Rzucewo. Despite numerous excavations and an increase of archaeological sources, this culture can be regarded as not fully recognized. Many issues related to the Rzucewo culture still require detailed studies.

Popularizing results of archaeological research is one of the main problems that Polish archaeology encounters nowadays. Despite many interdisciplinary archaeological research conducted every year, only small percentage become the matter of various forms of interest. There are various forms of presentation in the North part of Pomorskie voivodeship which show how these kind of actions should be done. Those places became popular destination for cultural travelling. Those examples additionally show that simple way of presentation results of archaeological research can become attractive for visitors. Existing forms of popularisation archaeological finds translate into diversified social respond and better protection of archaeological sites. While these actions are complementary to traditional museums, they can be competitive too. In future, the potential of other archaeological sites in the region should be used what would transfer into tourism offer enhancement. Actions undertaken in Pomerania region might be an example for other Polish as well as foreign regions how to manage and organise cultural and archaeological attractions.
