The genus Spasskia Belokobylskij, 1989 is reported for the first time from the Oriental Region. A new species S. indica sp. nov. is described and illustrated with line drawings and Scanning Electron Microscope photomicrographs. The species is recorded as parasitoid of Chlorophorus strobilicola Champion (Cerambycidae) infesting second and third years cones of Pinus roxburghii Sargent. Key to all species of Spasskia is given.
The authors report an unusual case of a 33-year-old Indian male adult, who sought treatment for skin infection, skin ulcer and oedema of leg for two years, but got no relief until he was incidentally diagnosed by scrape cytology for presence of microfilaria in leg ulcer, blood and pleural fluid. The patient was fully cured after receiving complete treatment for filariasis
