The present work focuses on the influence of different levels of microstructural heterogeneities, observed on polycrystalline f.c.c. metal on Hydrogen Evolution Reaction efficiency. The effect of grain size and plastic strain on polycrystalline nickel is analysed, as well as the influence of crystallographic orientation and plastic strain of law index single crystals. A particular attention bas been devoted to kinetic and thermodynamic parameters which characterise hydrogen adsorption and desorption.
