The aim of the article is to analyse the conditions of capital market in Slovak Republic from the view of its functionality as a tool providing redistribution of capital in economic system. We focused mainly on functionality of stock exchange as market and execution of individual theoretically determinate functions. We analysed functionality and execution of these functions in individual points, mainly on the basis of last year stock market statistics. In addition to the analysis, there was also our comparison with, relevant countries. The aim of the work was to point out some defects of Slovak capital market in the course of current global difficult times in financial sector and present possible perspectives.

In the long term, there are no alternatives to an environmentally compatible mode of production and consumption. Global warming, the loss (depletion) of stratospheric ozone and tropical forests, marine pollution and soil erosion, world-wide air pollution and the world-wide loss of biodiversity can no longer be denied. Only if every individual adapts his or her activities to the limits of our environment, can the targets presented here be achieved. In the debate on consumption patterns in industrialized societies it is assumed that at least 30 to 40 percent of all environmental problems can be traced back directly or indirectly to current consumer behaviors and one of many tools to eliminate this problem is also benchmarking. Benchmarking is a process where companies compare their performance over time against their competition. You'll find there are areas where you are better than most. You'll also see areas where significant improvement is available.

Quality Management Systems (QMS) compliant with ISO 9001 are currently very popular standard. One of the reasons of this state of affairs was a quick development of the science, which determined the functioning of enterprises. Better ones were these, based on the knowledge and public information. Growing diversity and amount of products, decreasing amount of necessary machinery and devices, as well as shortened production time and the product’s life cycle guaranteed the development only to these organizations, which were able to meet its clients’ expectations. Therefore, the organizations begun to compete between themselves for the markets and, above all, for the clients.

Proposed application of the AHP method for selection of forest mean of transport

The article attempts to use AHP method to support decision-making process about the purchase of the timber forwarder. The essence of the article is to present the methodology of the procedure, and not the best or worst tractor. Based on pair comparison it is relatively easy to get help in making decisions. Therefore, this method should be used for selection of e.g. forest tractors with similar prices and specifications.

In enterprises there are many systems of management. Their preparation and implementation requires extensive specification and the introduction of the certification process. Increasing international competition means that companies are seeking to take advantage of the market’s drive to internationalize their business in search of market advantages. The result is an increase in the share of expatriates, who often undergo problems with adaptation, cultural shock all having a negative impact on work efficiency and, decreasing job satisfaction. On the other hand, those who adapt quickly can increase the potential of corporations. The paper presents a part of research results related to the analysis of factors determining the success of adaptation to work in international organizations.

Nasilająca się konkurencja międzynarodowa sprawia, że przedsiębiorstwa w poszukiwaniu przewag rynkowych podejmują wysiłki zmierzające do internacjonalizacji działalności. Konsekwencją jest wzrost udziału ekspatriantów, co powoduje często problemy z adaptacją, szokiem kulturowym, negatywnym wpływem na efektywność i obniżoną satysfakcję z wykonywania pracy. Z drugiej strony osoby szybko adaptujące się mogą zwiększyć potencjał korporacji. W pracy przedstawiono część wyników badań związanych z analizą czynników decydujących o sukcesie adaptacji do pracy w organizacjach międzynarodowych.

Improvement of the organization of furniture production applying the teamwork method

In this article the analysis of complaint about furniture manufactured in one of the Sub-Carpathian factories - PPH “Więcpol” was discussed. The conclusions from this analysis allowed for the methodical improvement of the production process of furniture. For the first stage of improvement one of the teamwork methods, i.e. brainstorming was applied. The result of this method pointed at the need of improvement at the stand of the transverse-longitudinal circular saw.

The purpose of this paper is to identify processes and practices of talent management and their implementation in Slovak context. Based on the theoretical knowledge base and current research questionnaire survey was conducted to obtain primary data. The survey examines the array of talent management processes and practices in Slovak organizations. The paper presents partial results of the survey concerning the embeddedness and implementation of talent management, more precisely, declaration of talent management strategy and synchronization of talent management strategy with the overall company strategy. When analysing the data gathered there were used descriptive and inferential statistical methods, specific correlation analysis, ANOVA and Student's t-test.

The market economy is, among other, characterized by the fact that businesses are able to respond promptly to market demands - customers. In practice, this means that the customer wants to have the goods at the location at a specific time and provided in adequate quality and price, which is determined by the market supply and demand. One of the options to increase business efficiency and competitiveness in general is to reduce production costs or the total cost. Logistics costs (in literature also referred to as "total costs") represent a very high proportion of these costs. They are part of the total cost, which greatly affect management of the company. The paper outlines the possibility of how these costs can be reduced, based on an analysis and using rationalization approach to the current state of the organization and its management, without requiring significant costs of implementing certain measures.

Gospodarkę rynkową charakteryzuje między innymi fakt, że przedsiębiorstwa są w stanie natychmiast reagować na wymagania rynku - klientów. W praktyce oznacza to, że klient chce mieć towar w lokalizacji, w określonym czasie i dostarczony w odpowiedniej jakości i cenie, która jest określana przez podaż i popyt rynku. Jedną z możliwości zwiększenia wydajności biznesu i konkurencyjności jest zredukowanie kosztów produkcji lub kosztu całkowitego. Koszty logistyczne (w literaturze również określane jako „koszty całkowite“) stanowią bardzo wysoki odsetek tych kosztów. Są one częścią kosztu całkowitego, który w znacznym stopniu wpływa na zarządzanie firmą. W artykule nakreślono sposób, w jaki koszty te mogą zostać zredukowane, na podstawie analizy i wykorzystania podejścia racjonalizacyjnego do obecnego stanu organizacji i zarządzania nią, bez konieczności stosowania znaczących kosztów wdrożenia pewnych środków.

In the paper the design of the FMEA analysis procedure has been presented. It was prepared for the company producing furniture. The company is located in the Podkarpackie Province. As a part of the strategy managers implement an idea of continuous improvement. As a part of this work the pilot quality management tools and Lean Manufacturing are implemented. Now it is the time for formalization of these activities on the basis of the conclusions of previous work. The procedure presented in the work can also be used in other companies.

Badano proces wylewu płaskiej pięciowarstwowej folii orientowanej do pakowania ręcznego z regranulatem pod kątem jej maksymalnej odporności na przebicie. Celem było określenie optymalnych wartości parametrów wejściowych produkcji w ustalonych (na bazie wcześniejszych doświadczeń) zakresach zmienności. Eksperyment przeprowadzono wg planu PS/DK 23. Okazało się, że przy przyjętych założeniach największy wpływ na proces produkcji , folii ma zawartość uszlachetniaczy. Czynnikiem mającym mniejszy wpływ na badany proces jest zawartość kleju w masie kompozycji.

Flat polyethlene films (23 µm) were produced under com. conditions by extrusion and casting of a blend of the polymer with an adhesive and a masterbatch at 270°C, stretched up to 150% and studied for mech. puncture. The masterbatch content contributed mostly to the film quality.
