The article presents some aspects of planning and conducting reconnaissance in mountainous terrain. The mountainous terrain has played a significant role in numerous battles and has been the key area creating opportunities for further actions. Intelligence staff is responsible for gaining the information necessary for military decision making process. Intelligence cell conducts IPB process during mission planning and throughout the operation. By applying intelligence preparation of the battlefield, commanders gain the information necessary to selectively apply and maximize operational effectiveness at critical points in time and space. There are many considerations affecting organization of reconnaissance in the mountainous terrain. IPB identifies the facts and assumptions about the enemy, terrain, weather, and civil considerations that allow effective staff planning. A reasonable estimate of the terrain and the enemy may pose many difficulties. The main task of the reconnaissance units in such a terrain is to find out the presence, the organization and positions of the enemy troops. The proper organization of observation system in mountainous terrain is one of the most important planning issues for intelligence cell. Knowledge about the terrain is a key factor to defeat your opponent in the battle.

Getting information about the enemy and environment and their transmission in real time support the commander and his decision making process. Intelligence is fundamental to the planning and conduct of operations across the whole spectrum of conflict. Automated intelligence system is a key to achieving a level where the information needs of commanders for which it was established priority will be easier to implement by the intelligence cell. The participation of the Polish Army in coalition operations revealed the need for automation of data about the situation in the area of operation. The paper characterizes the general requirements for information system and presents the flow of information on the example of the Polish Military Contingent in the Republic of Iraq.

Zdobywanie informacji o przeciwniku i terenie prowadzonych działań oraz ich przekazywanie w czasie rzeczywistym, pozwala dowódcy na podejmowanie decyzji i jego proces podejmowania decyzji. Skuteczny system rozpoznania jest warunkiem niezbędnym do planowania i prowadzenia działań na współczesnym polu walki. Automatyzacja systemu rozpoznania jest kluczem do osiągnięcia poziomu, na którym potrzeby informacyjne dowódcy dla których został określony priorytet będą łatwiejsze do realizacji przez komórkę rozpoznania. Udział Wojska Polskiego w operacjach koalicyjnych ukazał potrzebę zapewnienia automatyzacji transmisji danych o sytuacji w obszarze prowadzonych działań. W referacie scharakteryzowano ogólne wymagania dla systemu rozpoznania. na przykładzie misji Polskiego Kontyngentu Wojskowego w Republice Iraku.

The aim of the article is to present reconnaissance cycle conducted by specialist reconnaissance cells. Information operations require dealing with all accessible information, thus determining which information is essential, searching for missing pieces of information, processing it and distributing to the interested party. Update information is crucial on contemporary battlefield as the situation changes very dynamically. Therefore IT technologies are widely introduced to all basic information operations and the methods of working on information are constantly improved. It must be stressed that the lack of a precise beginning and end of particular stages are characteristic for the reconnaissance cycle. Thus all cycle stages are closely connected and they interpenetrate. Each cycle must be synchronized with decision-making process and is conditioned by the commander’s information needs. The reconnaissance cycle is carried out in peacetime, crisis and wartime.

The role of intelligence is crucial and must be horizontally integrated across the strategic, operational, and tactical levels. This will hopefully ensure that the key pieces of intelligence are delivered to the decision-maker in a timely manner. The Intelligence Cell (J2 – S2) must understand the needs of the operational community and work hand-in-hand with the Operational Cell (J3 – S3) to ensure that the commander is properly supported. Intelligence preparation of the battlefield is vital to successful IO. Information Operations are predicated on good information and intelligence.

W artykule przedstawiono wyniki badań i ocenę odpadów niebezpiecznych w kontekście obowiązujących uregulowań prawnych, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem Rozporządzenia Ministra Środowiska z dnia 13 maja 2004 r. w sprawie warunków, w których uznaje się, że odpady nie są niebezpieczne. Autorzy przebadali odpady powstające w wyniku przetwórstwa ropy naftowej. Wyniki analiz pozwoliły na ocenę produktu - paliwa alternatywnego - powstałego z odpadów szkodliwych i niebezpiecznych oraz trocin, jako materiału nieposiadającego cech niebezpiecznych

The article presents results from investigations and assessment of wastes in the context of legal regulations in force, with particular emphasis on the Regulation of the Ministry of Environment of 13 May 2004 on conditions under which it is acknowledged that the wastes are not dangerous. The authors examined wastes generated during processing of oil. The results of the analysis allowed to assess the product - an alternative fuel - generated from dangerous wastes and dangerous sawdust as the material non-possessing dangerous traits.
