This article discusses the possibility of using the concept of lexicalization in teaching Polish as a foreign language. The author presents different views of lexicalization in the works of linguists and she advocates that there is a need for a broad understanding of this phenomenon. The suggested strategy refers to glottodidactic practice. The discussed examples prove that processes that are common (such as breaking ethymological and formative ties) lead to the emancipation of a lexical item, which is no longer regarded as belonging to a certain semantic field. A similar situation occurs when graphic conventions interfere – they can disguise the semantic or formal origin of a lexem. The aim of the strategies suggested in the article is to restore the awareness of the very existence of some ties between words. According to the author it makes the process of building vocabulary easier for foreigners.

The paper examines the problem of interdiscipline in linguistic research. To illustrate this the discussion concerns both metalinguistic interpretation of the lexeme 'interdiscipline' as well as the ways of dealing with interdiscipline in the humanities. The authoress takes into account the linguistic texts and discusses various methods used in inter-discipline research in the humanities. Those methods are used so as to complete linguistic research with the data taken from the other scientific disciplines or in order to provide methodological inspiration which comes from the theories formulated on the grounds of both social and exact sciences. The text is summed up with the opinion not only on positive aspects of interdiscipline problems in linguistics but also on danger which may appear in such scientific research. Taking the latter into consideration, the authoress puts emphasis on any groundless usage of terminology taken from the other disciplines as well as superficiality emerging in treatment of scientific results in the other disciplines.

The article takes up the subject of the contemporary variations in the case government of certain Polish verbs which result from the replacement of objects in the genitive with objects in the accusative. Contemporarily, this phenomenon is treated as a deviation from the accepted norm, despite it being observed not only in the spoken language, but also in written texts and in different kinds of mass media (press, TV, the Internet). Nevertheless, language normativists do not allow the variance (acc. // gen.) of the object. As it has been corroborated with the use of historical linguistic analysis, the discussed phenomenon is not new in the Polish language, but stems from a constant tendency to optimize the syntax, which in this case results in the unification of the direct object in the form of the accusative. This process, taking place since the 16th century, has led to the change of the case government (from genitive to accusative) of hundreds of Polish verbs. This process was being restrained in the 20th century by quite vigorous normative actions. The continuous conflict between superior directives and the natural tendencies of language causes, on the one hand, considerable problems for native speakers and, on the other, leads to an even bigger discrepancy between written norm and common usage.

In the paper the authoresses ask questions concerning how are the rules of the word formative level created. They focus on series of incidences, leaving out sporadic instances but also putting on the side the models inherited from earlier times as well as those borrowed from other languages (eg. -cja from Latin, -ing from English). Thereby a new value of the term grammaticalization is created - the interest of the authors concerns the mechanism of creation of new word formation rules, that is only word formative grammaticalization. Sources of new models can be found in: 1) the lexical level (the affixes -dziej, -wspol-, -teka, -man); 2) the inflectional level (paradigmatic derivation, adjectivization of participles, substantivization of adjectives); 3) the syntactic level (nie-, the postfix sie). The paper is illustrated mostly by Polish examples however the authors hope that the aforementioned word formative grammaticalization processes can easily be supplemented with examples from other Slavic languages.
