KRZYSZTOF ŚLIWKA – FAITHFUL TO MUSIC OF CONTESTATION Maliszewski analises Krzysztof Śliwka’s poetry. Śliwka comes from Wroc- ław. He is one of the most renown artists of his generation. Quiet City was the title of his first book, and the most recent one was entitled Buddha Show. Maliszewski concentrates on the originality of Śliwka’s project based on the poetic rebellion and defiance; he reveals personal, social and aesthetic source of contestation. All experiments by Śliwka rose from the hunger of the truth about people and their role in society, boiled down to the belief of being inextricably associated with space outside the system.
“Let the poem be about life”. Bogusław Kierc’s lyrics The author of this article analyzes the poetry of Bogusław Kierc, a poet from Wrocław, pointing to the separateness and originality of this artist. Originality is revealed in risky and bold themes and a form that is a com- bination of something avant-garde with something very traditional. The language used by the poet, concerning ultimate and mystical problems, captivates with harmonious, musical finesse. Pictures in this poetry are seen, heard and experienced. The hero of these poems sees in his somatic and erotic experiences the source of potential mysticism, the possibility of approaching transcendence.
Notes on Some Artists And Manifestations Maliszewski analyzes the relationship between images formed by poets and images formed by visual artists. In their texts, some contemporary poets refer to ‘image-reading’. Poetic image is preceded by a literal picture – meanings are transferred in the process of inter-semiotic translation. Maliszewski is interested in trace references to photos and painted images; the traces of influencing the shape and character of a monologue. He analyzes this phenomenon based on Izabela Fietkiewicz-Paszek’s, Jacek Gutorow’s and Jacek Dehnel’s creative work.
The author reflects on the problem of social transformation in terms of receiving and classifying humor, as shown by the example of disappearing lyrical species called ‘trifle’. In his view, contemporary Polish poetry (and, in fact, all world literature) avoids decidedly satirical and humorous forms. Poetry is domi-nated by discreet and mixed humor, such as black humor, irony, pure-nonsense, mockery, persiflage, derision, grotesque. The analysis is based on poetry by the artists of three generations: Tadeusz Rozewicz, Bohdan Zadura and Krzysztof Jaworski.
Spirituality of Literature. A Case of Antoni Matuszkiewicz The author in his sketch describes the early lyrics of Antoni Matuszkie- wicz. He emphasizes that what has been modernist in them, the avant- garde shape of the poem, has been marked by a special spiritual fervor, as if Matuszkiewicz tried to reconcile in a single record a revealing metaphor with something eternal, with something what seems like a mystical spir- itual formation. Matuszkiewicz, in a dispute over poetry, is on the side of those who believe in a substantial image of the world and, hence, the metaphysical nature of literature.
